Since his season started, there has been Scout posters from Alabama giving first hand updates on him. Here is one I think everyone will like, plus the link. LINK
I am an Auburn fan born and raised, so I don't have a dog in this fight...I am also the team chaplain for Athens High school team. This is my second year doing this ministry for the team. I really enjoy it.
I wanted to put this on the board about a month ago, just haven't had time. Last year Stephen put up some good numbers, actually set a few school records I believe. He had some very good athletes to throw to last year. All of the skill players were seniors and signed with some college (UNA, AL ST, some Jr.college in CA.).
Here is the deal, Athens lost their entire first AND second string skill players. Also, they lost 3 of their o-line. Put it to you this way...before the first game this year, nobody had ever ran or caught a pass in a high school game. NO EXPERIENCE AT ALL!!
Needless to say all the teams are just putting 8-9 men in the box...constantly blitzing! Stephen does everything he can under the circumstances to win the game. He doesn't get rattled much, very calm demeanor.
He is a very humble guy. His dad is just a great man, very humble too and loves to coach everyone. He enjoys coaching the 3rd string as well as Stephen. I can count on one hand the times we have talked about his brother, mainly because I would imagine he gets tired of the questions. I know for a fact he put in the time in the weight room during the off season to get stronger and better. He knows he needs to get bigger and will I am sure.
So tell your friends/fans not to get worried about his numbers this year. Tonight was a perfect example: he made two throws of 40-50 yards-beautiful pass that was dropped in the end zones. On the score sheet, he will have an int. What it will not show is that the ball went through the wf's hands into the db's hands. If you can give him time, he will put it on the money!!
After he announced he was signing with LSU, the next Monday I walked in the locker room and congratulated him and his dad. A few other players were in there too. I could tell he was a little embarrassed by the attention, so I changed the subject. After everyone left, we talked more about it. I told him that I would be praying for him and hoped he did well, except when he played AU. He laughed. Then I said I hope he kills bama...his smile went away, got serious, he said I want to kill them every year!!! I can't stand that team!!
Anyway, just thought I would share this with you guys. If there is anything I can do for you guys, just let me know

Thanks for sharing. Performing under these conditions will help to develop the quick decision making skills needed in SEC competition. His height and quick release should make him a productive TIGER.

tell him what he's won Johnny.
"the hearts and minds of every man, women or child that bleeds purple and gold!"
as Picard would say, "make it so."

Does anyone know if it will affect him if we get a new OC?

It's been 12 years. The Rivers family needs to get over Phillip not getting an offer. Auburn didn't offer him either.

What exactly is a "Scout Poster"?
Posted on 9/13/10 at 12:37 am to Kal_Varnsen
Maybe he just hates annoying bama fans

Everytime that I see Phillip Rivers play, I get even more excited about this commit. I know Stephen isn't up to par with Phillip, but with the weapons he will have and the line that he will have once he sees the field, I think he will be very special

HS stats don't bother me. Matt Barkley may be the most NFL lock of a QB playing in college today and his senior season was pretty disappointing. HS QB can be severely limited by surrounding talent, or a lack of it.

Got to like a kid that hates Bama! Great post.
