wanted to see what the ST members thought about the gesture before the game. Apparently this is a HUGE deal on the Fail and Fail....I mean, the Mike and Mike show. They've been hammering this now for quite a bit.

Personally, I just want to see football. Let the players and the NFL work out an agreement, but the whole "we're 1" gesture I could care less about it. I wasn't aware, however, that a simple gesture before the football game mattered all that much. Until Al Michaels said what it was about, I had no idea wtf was going on.

Mike and Mike making a huge issue out of something fans dont even care about. They basically spent the whole time trying to get us to hate that the players did it

Didn't bother me. Preferable to a lockout or walkout.

Color me stupid, but I was at the game and do not know what happened. Is this the same as the Bobby incident?

Could someone please reiterate this, for the informationally challenged.

The media is just trying to stir up a story line for this year. It gives them something to talk about in order to fill dead air time. The N$L and the players have way to much to lose on each side for a strike. They are not going to kill the goose that laid the golden egg.

All the players walked off the sidelines and held up 1 finger to say "we are united".

What really needs to happen is ...

Fans need to go on strike. Boycott every advertised product on an NFL game. Empty all stadiums on one Sunday.

Prices are out of control.

Maybe the billionaires and players need a message that nobody cares about their complaining how billions from the fans are not enough to go around.

NFL and pro sports are nothing but GREED.

This would be awesome. How could we start a grassroots movement for say Week 8 or somewhere in the middle of the season.

I was at the game. It lasted all of the seconds before kickoff. Didn't bother me in the least.

The owners have done an excellent job of misinforming people and getting the blame assigned to the players instead of where it belongs: the owners. The lockout (it won't be a strike as the players already signed an agreement) will occur because of the greed of a certain group of owners. The issue is big market owners vs small market owners, both of whom are using the players as a pawn. And most of you are allowing yourselves to be blinded by the billionaires and the manipulation of the media.

enjoyed the whole game, pregame festivities and everything, the atomsphere made me remember why home can never be duplicated, I'll remeber all that on the way back. With that said, we need DLine help like I been sayin all along, Peterson didn't break off any long runs , thankgod!

but he got through the the line easily, that is why I keep pushing for a Haynesworth so, badly!

Brees was sharp, he barely missed Hends on a deep one that would have went for a sure TD, and Meach drops another one in the endzone, Hartley disappointed me tremendously and makes me wonder is he really the "real" deal, he shanked thos kicks badly!

if we score all those points that were left out there, this game is a rout, so I was greatly appreciative of the defensive effort, especially in the 2nd half!

but you wanted thoughts on the union thing, my bad I thought it was game , hangover calling me right now, my belief is that the players have to do what they have to do! Like any worker's union, if u feel u are being treated unfairly then let them know, the owners are just a bunch of fat, rich, disgusting rats anyways!

with all that said, the Vikes protected ole man Favre pretty well!

this is the first time i have watched it in over 2 months or so.. and life was just much better without it.. mike golic is starting to rub me the wrong way. seriously this show and channel is full of shite.

i for one don't care either way if the players want to unite.. even over money. does not bother me in the slightest.

Soph is correct. I will never attack a player for holding out. Your average non-elite starter, special teams, or bench scrub (90% of the roster) destroys his body while trying to make a lifetime worth of income in 3-7 years. Get what you can get while you can get it.

If you get injured, your contract can be voided. If you don't play at a high level, your contract can be voided. If someone will do your job for cheaper, you contract can be voided. So I have absolutely no issue with the Players Association demanding a larger piece of the revenue pie.

Your average player making $800,000 pays 40% in taxes, then another 10% to his manager and agent. $400,000 a year is nice, but the average player in the NFL has a 4.8 year career. That's good money, but that's not even considered wealthy.

Contrast that with the owners, meanwhile, who make billions- not for one season but for forty. They make money hand over fist, demand you pay for their new stadiums, then bitch and moan about paying the people that actually perform the activity we pay to see. frick those greedy bastards.

One of the greedy things the players want is to change how long it takes to be vested so that more guys can receive benefits after playing. They also, selfishly of course, want a health insurance plan for retired players, many of whom require several surgeries after playing; they can't get affordable insurance because being destroyed by the NFL is a preexisting condition, so much of what they earned getting brutalized for their 3 to 5 year average career is spend on trying to make sure that they can do selfish things like, you know, walk with as little pain as possible.

It is not just about the money, and yeah, the majority of these guys are being used as peices of meat. Sadly, most fans don't attempt to wrap their heads around the reality of the situation. And don't get me started on the contribution of NCAA football in this fricked up equation...

You do realize that a "fan strike" would be a hollow gesture that does more harm than good, right? Tickets are already bought, advertising is already sold, etc. In other words, the rich bastards who are at the heart of the problem already have their cash. The people who you'd be hurting are those who work in the stadium and the regular employees of those sponsors--in other words, you'd be hurting average folks like you and me, along with many people who depend on tip money at the stadium to make ends meet. Bad idea all around.
