I think when it gets over $50 you're paying for rarity and not better quality. Jameson and Bushmills are my fav's. Had some 30 yr old Jameson in Ireland that was served in a wine glass. Wish I had some more.

I don't agree with this statement. Maybe in some cases it holds true, but most alcohol is a "you get what you pay for deal" up to a certain point. Now there are always exceptions to the rule. But I would imagine that your 30 yo Jameson (which is probably more expensive than the Rarest Vintage which is $270) is of much better quality than, say your standard Jameson or Bushmills.

The real question is whether you are okay with paying the price? For me, yes. But it sounds like $50 is your price point.
