If you had a crystal ball in 2008 and saw the future of LSU football for 08,09,10 and further would you have still kicked off Perriloux with the following expectations?

-With Perriloux in 08,09 we compete for or win the SEC
-This year Jarret Lee is your starting qb as a junior, with two years of being groomed on the sideline and has confidence going into the season.
-Jordan Jefferson is a RS sophomore that has been groomed on the sideline and still has time to learn
-Les Miles is still regarded as quirky, unorthodox coach that gets results.

At the time I supported the decision and believe I still do. Would any of you change your mind?

Regardless of what you think of the decision it has had a signicant impact on our program and the development of our QB's.It really makes you think how tough a decision that was for Miles coming off of the NC.

I don't know any of the behind the scenes thing RP did (for sure) but on the surface I wouldn't have kicked him off now but at the time I agreed

sooner or later you have to break in a new quarterback.

But, no, I would have done everything I could to get his head straight, and I think Miles did that.

Too bad. He'll be selling cars or coaching high school ball perhaps.

If I had a crystal ball and WVU doesn't lose to Pitt, Miles is already gone. Choking against Ark...

Coach Miles did the right thing. You can only give a person so many second chances. He literally had it all and just threw it away. It wasn't as much Miles kicking him off the team, he brought it upon himself.

Question:

Are we to assume Ryan Perrilloux would play defense in 2008?

No. I agree our D was not good but our offense was terrible as well. I would think that we would have been more competitive with a good O. Maybe not SEC championship caliber but in the conversation for the West.

I don't know all the details so can't make a judgement either way, but I didn't see the need then and still don't now.

CLM made the correct decision- and did so at great personal risk, as time has proven.

He knew what position that was going to put us in for 2008 & beyond- but did what he felt was right.

There will always be people who have the "win at all costs" mindset- but I believe the dismissal of RP proved that Miles runs a clean program.
You refuse to follow the rules? There's the door, dogg.

I would have still booted him and heres why, eventually he would have gotten in trouble in the middle of the season. Then not only are you left with an inexperienced QB at the helm, but he hasnt taken any of the 1st team reps.

Agreed 100%, Even whith Perrilloux, our defense was so horrible, We may win 1 more game, probalby Arkansas.

2009 Would have been a different year in my opinion.

I agreed with the decision at the time, Now 2nd guessing.

Doing the right thing shouldn't be compromised by what might happen.

Les did the right thing by getting rid of the cancer that was RP.

I also disagree with the premise that there are any lingering effects from this.

I think that Les understood that it would hurt the team for a couple of years but he also knew that it was the right thing to do. I think in hindsight, he might could have benched him for a game or 2 but Ryan must have hit the wrong button. Besides, there could have been some outside pressure by others for Les to boot him.

frick NO, Miles should have not booted him off the team. What did he do that most college kids don't? He was caught trying to get into a casino under age?????? No one else has ever used a fake/Someone else's ID to get into a bar right??? Got into a fight at a bar???? This never happens with college kids either. Didn't we have a receiver break his had in the spring from this. I agree he wasn't an angel (late for meetings/ missing practice) and those things should have been dealt with. I also agree that an athlete of his caliber should be a little more careful, but he didn't kill anyone.

So you dont think that Lee and Jefferson being thrust into the starting position as Freshmen has impacted their ability overall as a QB? I compare these two to a couple AA pitchers that got brought up to majors and got shelled. Instead of being sent back down to regain their confidence they were forced to play through the shelling and as a result are not the QB's they could have been.

If it was all about wins, he should have kept RP.
