Is it too much to ask that LSU have a coaching staff that can:

1. Have the team mentally and physically prepared to play regardless of the opponent, with a cohesive game plan for all three phases of the game. At a bare minimum the game plans should always maximize the talent at their disposal while covering deficiencies as best as possible.
2. Adjust quickly to what the opponent is doing with game plan changes designed to exploit the weaknesses in the opposition’s scheme and to disrupt anything successful from the opponent’s play calling.
3. Recruit AND develop talent at a level required to be among the elite teams in the SEC.
4. Quickly and decisively deal with any discipline issues while being a mentor to the young men playing football at the university.
5. Play the best players, regardless of age or recruiting stars.
6. Reward excellence and punish mediocrity. This applies to both players and coaches.
Given the way things have gone the last two years and what we saw last night, I’d like to point out that if our opponents’ fans are defending our coach and trying to lighten our mood, it’s probably a pretty good indication that we need to make a change. Remember back when we used to want Shula to stay at Bama?

In 2007 we walloped MSU to open the season. Before that, the last time we opened a season against a non rent-a-win team and dominated was against T A&M in 1988. It just doesn't happen a lot at LSU.

Old enough to have been going to games long before Arnsbarger.

Well then you know that that list isn't exclusive to Les. And you know that historically, LSU doesn't dominate BCS teams in opening games.

That is a totally reasonable expectation, until you put Les into the equation...then it becomes IMPOSSIBLE!
