If Jefferson doesn't shred UNC's second team defense....

are you going to be worried? With UNC likely missing 8 of 11 defensive starters including the entire secondary, Jefferson should look phenomenal Saturday. If he does, I'm not sure what we can take from that performance b/c it is against 2nd stringers. If he doesn't look great, it could be a long year.

It is the first game of the season. I don't necessarily expect him to look spectacular.

Depends
IF he puts up decent numbers and our RBs run rickshaw all over them then not as much
But if we just win like 21-14 then a little, but i will smash that with ridiculous optimism

I believe the team must look well prepared, penalties must be low and no confusion by our own players on either side of the ball the entire game. If we look good and dont have any of those issue I believe the score will take care of itself and JJ should have a good night.

UNC is similar to LSU in that they do have backups that are nearly as good as the starters but I am not too sure if EVERY back up would be that good.
I have to agree with you that JJ needs to look solid tomorrow night.

You mean run roughshod.

This is my thing. If we can look prepared, organized and dont do any of that "check with me" shite, but we dont execute all that great im ok with that. And with that said, if we score 6 times on big plays, but look confused and get a lot of penalties, I will be worried. I dont expect these guys to be in mid season form, but I do hope that all the little things are taken care of.

As long as we look like we have a clue about what we are doing I wont care

I've got a feeling that our team goes out and makes a statement tomorrow night, much like South Carolina did last night. Garcia was beleaguered all offseason and there were questions about whether he should be the starter. And their offense clicked last night.
I see a similar beating in UNC's future. Last year was last year. This year we get rolling.

Even if he did/didn't...the image od our RBs running rickshaw over UNC is pretty damn funny!

if he does look good, it could be a false sense of security, but at the same time it could be that confidence boost that the team needs to get it going
on the other side
if he looks bad, it could be because its the first game of the season or because we are unorganized. but at the same time it could be bc UNC still has talented players as backups
Just playing both sides of this argument, either way the game is tomorrow and the anxiety about the start of football season will be over.

Be sure and leave it wide open for criticism either way.
I hope to see stellar run and pass blocking. Everything else will fall into place. The fortunes of this team don't fall solely at QBs feet.

Wasn't JJ going against a few second stringers in the Spring game? He'll probably look something similar to that.

I pray to all that is holy that LSU never televises another frickin' sping game again.

I agree. It was pretty pathetic. The crowd included.

i was referring more to the LSU fanbase not being able to comprehend that it was a spring game and basically means nothing.

no. I'd be more worried if we fail to establish a solid run game.

JJ doesn't have to look phenomenal...he just has to look like he knows what he is doing.

we all anticipate JJ and JL improving their game but that can be said about the whole program. we are a very young team that will have to learn on the go. I just hope we have a team of fast learners.
