Back in the late 90s, there was a play similar to that 2nd clip in a playoff game pitting Bonnabel vs St. Aug in NOLA at Tad Gormley. Bonnabel was winning by less than a TD and decided to take a safety on fourth down late in the game to run out the clock. The QB took the snap and ran about 50 yards toward his own endzone, saw the clock hit :00 then threw the ball up in the air before taking a knee. A St. Aug player caught the ball in the endzone for the win.
