I just do them in a pot on the stove so I'm not sure about crockpot. I don't think you can get it hot enough. You can pressure cook them as well.
I just pretty much do them with about the same seasonings as a crawfish boil and just boil until tender. Bring it up high to a rolling boil then reduce to a low boil. I'll say about forty five minutes to an hout but you just have to taste them as you go.I haven't done them in awhile. I use crab boil and a lot of salt.

This.
To clarify i would also like to add that the thread would need
lbs of peanuts (size?)
Amount of water - or how much water needs to be kept over the boiling peanuts
initial amount of salt or does it need any other seasoning?

The water needs to be kept above the peanuts. Just boil them like pasta or rice or crawfish.
I don't know how you would boil peanuts in a crockpot. Will it get hot enough and if so why a crockpot? Boiling is boiling not slow cooking. Crockpots are normally used just to keep them hot.
I have a large stockpot and I put about five pounds of peanuts and I would guess a box to a box and a half of salt. If you use a crawfish boil just use the amount it says to use for say however many pounds of shrimp.
As far as time as I posted above I'd say an hour over a low boil but you just have to keep taking one out and eating it until they are boiled enough to your liking.

For a thirty pound bag, I use those big 1 lb. 10 oz. round salt things (26 oz.) I use one and a half (39 oz.) for thirty pounds. You can do the math from there. Fifteen pounds of peanuts equal 19.5 oz. of salt. Eight pounds of peanuts should use about 9 to 10 oz. of salt. Four pounds of peanuts equal about 5 oz. of salt. Use as much water as you can without boiling the water over. The crock pot is for heating them back up for the party, not necessarily for cooking. Use a big pot. It ain't hard but it takes about 2 hours to do 6-8 pounds right. Boil for 80 minutes, cut off heat and cover. Check the taste every 15 minutes. Remove from heat immediatly after they taste right and drain the water. This insures continuity of taste. Every minute you let them soak, the saltier they get. Also, when they sink in the water, they are for sure done. All this means nothing if you don't get BOILING PEANUTS. Some peanuts you cannot boil because they aren't pourous enough. Good luck.

Green peanuts cook better and much faster than raw peanuts and the larger the peanut the better. Some people like to add Cayenne or crab boil to the boil for a little zing, but I just use salt.

Green peanuts are the only one you should ever try to boil. The salt and crab oil quantities vary by taste. I use a whole box of salt for about a 5 gallon pot and pour in about half a bottle of crab boil. You have to try a batch every 10 minutes or so to make sure you don't overbook them. I let then soak about an hour too because I like them hot b

This.
They are easy as all hell. I boil about two or three pounds for 1.5 hours or so. Let soak for at least 30 minutes.
Had my first batch of peanuts yesterday. Getting a 30 pound sack from Mississippi next weekend to last me through the football season.
