I went to the jamboree last night at Hahnville High School and here is some information about our 2 recruits.

First, both Landry and Lewis played just about the entire game. They played receiver on offense and safety on defense. Landry returns punts and kickoffs. I won't comment on the wisdom of keeping a highschool kid on the football field for an entire game, but I can say that both kids looked exhausted by the end of their games. And remember, this was a jamboree. The teams played two 20 minute halves. I spoke to a doctor who was on hand and he commented about how players are much more prone to injury when they are fatigued they when rested.

Lutcher beat Destrehan 20-7. Landry caught three or four passes for about 40 yards. He caught every pass thrown his way including a one handed catch around his thigh. His best attribute is his ability to run after the catch. Very tough to catch and tackle. Lutcher did not look his way very often, but I was told this was on purpose. They wanted to give other receivers some looks for the experience. Landry is an excellent blocker and he leveled a few d-backs last night. He intercepted one pass and almost ran it back for a touchdown. Even the Destrehan fans very in awe of his ability. He broke several tackles and eluded a few tacklers, but was tackled around the DHS ten yard line. He made several tackles by running up to the line of scrimmage and lowering his head. He seems like a player who is going to give it his all on every play no matter what the situation is.

St. James lost to Hahnville (I believe it was 14-0). Lewis caught one or two balls. The St. James quaterback was sacked numerous times and hurried on almost every pass attempt. Lewis looked very frustrated. He might not catch alot of balls this years if the St. James line can't protect their quarterback. The quarterback looked inexperienced to boot. Lewis is very fast and he clearly beat his defender numerous times, but the ball never got to him. He looks very comfortable at safety, and he reads the play very well.

On a side note, Destrehan has a kid who is a junior defensive tackle named (Singleton). This kid is an awesome athlete. He looks to be about 6'4" and about 270. He is extremely quick and his motor ran throughout the entire game. He made several tackles and was all over the field. Looks like a college defensive end. One of the coaches said he had an offer from Arkansas already. Miles needs to give him a look.

Just thought some might be interested.

no offense man, but you didn't need a doc to tell you that.... and maybe they are trying to get him in game shape, cause they want their best player on the field? Being in a field that deals with these things, i would say they are trying to get him in shape for the season.... Yes its easier to get hurt, but you gotta do whay you gotta do. Anyways its highschool, when i played, 6 of us didn't come off of the field. Just the way it is at some places.

Landry's best attributes are route running and his hands.

When I was in high school I played both ways, returned punts and kickoffs, and was the kicker. The only time I left the field was on punt team. Kids at smaller schools have ALWAYS done this so its not like it is something new. Just FYI, a sprained ankle was the worst injury I ever sustained.

Oh yeah? Well, when I was in high school, I played both ways too, did ALL the kicking and returning. At halftime I was the drum major with the band. Once we had an injury that forced me to play both safety positions at the same time!. My only injury ever was a concussion (owing to a defective leather helmet), which left me slightly delusional. Permanently.

Bozo is an accurate name. Just saying that playing at a SMALL school this shite is common. I was one of many players on my team that played both ways. BELIEVE me I am not bragging, but rather just saying that the OP was making a big deal about something that has been going on for DECADES...

I think it's more likely that the coach is going to ride him for all he's worth.

Thanks for the update. I have not really followed recruiting too closely yet this year, but it looks like a good class.

I have a question. How fast is Alonzo Lewis? His rivals profile has him at 4.92, which seems both very precise and pretty slow. Is this correct?

Thanks in advance.

The correct answer is all the above FWIW.

IIRC the conditions were less than ideal. I believe the track was wet, and he slipped. Kid is much faster than a 4.92.

he's not blazing fast. probably in the 4.6 range. he is a talented possession receiver with good hands. more polished than many receiver targets we have taken in the past few years.
