So, I'm talking about the announcers in the booth. You got the play by play guy, and then the guy who breaks plays down and gets into the analyzation.

Mine is definitely Chris Spielman. That guy analyzes like a warrior. He was a bit before my day as far as his playing career, but from what I've heard and read, he played the same way. Only time I can ever remember him doing an LSU game was Appalachian St. in '08. ESPN needs to get him in the booth for the smash mouth SEC games. He would love it!

I also used to really like Bill Curry before he went back into coaching. He did a lot of our games in '03. The most fun season for LSU football to date for me.

So, who would you like to hear doing the LSU games this year?

(BTW, to admins, i started this thread a couple hours ago and accidentally posted it on the recruiting board, and then proceeded to somehow double post it. My bad. So the clutter probably needs to be cleared over there)

Few of them are any better at calling the results than the average avid fan.

Love Ron Franklin. Although I think he's known more for pro than college, also enjoy Mike Patrick. Nessler and Blackledge are good too.

The pbp guy isn't an analyst.

But the correct answer is Gary Danielson. He knows his stuff. He gets a bad rap from sitting next to Verne.

Ron Franklin

by far.

It pains me to watch CBS broadcasts. Not only b/c of Vern (who was good in his day) but the endless freaking commercials. A game on CBS lasts 4.5 hours.

I realize that. The question was "Who are your favorite college football analysts?"

Then I tried to distinguish between the 2 announcers in the booth, so everyone could answer the question properly, but I obviously didn't make myself clear.

I have officially butchered this thread.

Okay, my bad. I threw PBP people in.

Although, isn't that line kind of blurred these days? PBP people certainly don't hesitate to editorialize.

When Verne yelled "WHAT IS HE DOING?!?" he wasn't narrating the action.

Erin Andrews. And I know that she is not an analyst but she is much nicer to analyze.

Wow, i will never forget that.

He does make some mistakes, but he is such a jolly old fat man it is hard to not like him.

I have to agree here. I read that she is going to be on College Gameday this year as well.

Spielman is another favorite. I had the privilege of seeing Chris Spielman play against LSU in Tiger Stadium back in 1987- a 13-13 tie. That was a helluva game. CS was the ultimate warrior on the football field, but a really good guy off- still is.

I remember some of his heartfelt comments after the funeral for the great Eric Andolsek, his adversary for the LSU-OSU- but his teammate at Detroit. He said (and I can't remember all the words) "When Eric died, a part of me died, as well...."

I was very saddened to hear his wife lost her battle with cancer, late last year. He gave up his NFL career years ago to take care of her.

Chris Fowler is the only one I can say I actually like.

My least favorite is Pam Ward.

The last couple of years, watching LSU on CBS has been the equivalent of a 4.5 hour heart attack. My fingernails are gone, heart pounds, headaches...it is embarrassing. I probably care more about the game than many of the players.

As to this thread...Ron Franklin and it is not even close.
