WINNER -- The Saints offense must have sent shivers through the rest of the NFL with its showing Saturday night at home against Houston. The defending Super Bowl champs scored touchdowns on four of their six first-half possessions en route to a 38-20 dismantling of the Texans. The Saints were the picture of balance in rolling up 409 yards of offense. They threw for 211 and ran for 198, with 15 first downs on the ground compared to 12 through the air. On third downs, New Orleans was a sharp 8 of 16, and even converted all three of its fourth-down tries. For now, the dreaded Super Bowl hangover effect appears to be a preseason storyline in search of some evidence in New Orleans.

Nice to see that some writer realizes that there's nothing to all this talk about the Saints celebrating too much.

I ran a few searches and did not see this article mentioned, so apologies if I missed it.

(1) The 2010 team is virtually intact from last season. If anything, it can be argued that they have upgraded at one or two positions.

(2) With Sean Payton and Drew Brees, it's very unlikely that this team would even be allowed to grow complacent.

(3) Not saying it's a huge factor, but the "talking heads" aren't exactly anointing the Saints as the team to beat. Heck, Atlanta seems to be the sexy pick to win the NFC South, so that would place New Orleans as a wild-card team.....at best.

(4) I bet the powers-that-be will make the team aware of (3), even if they don't already know.

I just don't see a SB hangover. Yes, they seemed to party like crazy during the offseason, but let's be honest. For the most part, we're talking about a bunch of 20-something, physically gifted, rich young men. It wasn't like they were going to sit home and watch Animal Planet even if they hadn't won a damn thing.

Saints over Ravens in Dallas next February.

Great numbers. The rushing total brought a big smile to my face. Hoping we can run for over 100 yards consistently. I know it's still a preseason game, but it shows that we have talented depth to our team.

If this team gets hungry for another super bowl, then there will be a lot of Deja vu this year.

By the time Drew Brees is our problem, it won't matter, anyway. He's the meal ticket.
