I'm not sure how people are coming up with this shite. We were supposedly a bad team last year but we went toe to toe with the top 2 teams in the country and we return a bunch on offense. Defensively, we're unproven but we return big time guys at key positions. I can't wait until October rolls around and we're sitting around the top 10. I wonder if all these douche bags will be eating their share of crow?

They're being safe.

They picked LSU to be much better than they were the past two years and its backfired. Now, if LSU does good, they can say they surprised everyone and hype the games up more...

We didn't go toe to toe with UF. Sorry, but they dominated us the entire game. People can claim we only lost by 10, but we were totally dominated in basically every way.

We did go toe to toe with Bama, but so did Auburn, so what's your point?

We will be better this year, so let these tools say what they want. It really shouldn't matter unless the team itself starts buying this drivel.

Especially considering that UF went with the most basic vanilla offense since CUM has coached there, and did it on the road. Makes their win look even more impressive, imo.

All people can point to is the complete screwup of the end of the Ole Miss game as to why LSU won't be any good this year.

At least Gino had the guts to say he doesn't buy the Auburn hype. I don't buy it either.

Too bad he's buying the "LSU will suck because of Les Miles" media-speak.

fify

CFB programs arent static, they move either up or down from the previous year. The past two years has shown a consistent downward trend. This doesnt mean we wont or shouldnt be better this year because I think we will, but given the trends I see no reason to expect better than 9-3.

How can you say we did not go toe to toe with Florida? It does not matter if the dominated us statically wise. The final score proves that we did go toe to toe with them. It was 10-3 at half time and they only scored 3 points in the forth quarter. No matter how you slice it up, we went toe to toe with them, even playing as poorly as we did offensively. I for one do not understand how all these so call experts can say we will take a step back. Sure everything is hanging on our QB play, they just need to come out and say that, that would be more easier to stomach.

I do agree they are all taking the safe road with us.

LSU's SEC reocrd, last two years:
2008: 3-5
2009: 5-3

Ummmm.... perhaps our definitions of "consistent" and "downward" and "trend" differ.

Went toe to toe with some mediocre to bad teams too and lost some and lucky to win the others( ie: Moo St, Ole Piss, La. Tech, Penn St); I look for a big rebound this season FWIW

Not true

If ever there was a case where the game wasnt as close as the score showed it was the LSU v. UF game last year. Essentially, FLA beat us with one hand tied behind their back. They had the most vanilla gameplan Ive ever seen FLA use. Why did they do this??? because they new they could do it and still win the game. Urban new our offense was abismal and he new that our defense couldnt stop the dive play consistently. Why beat us with his full arsenal when half will do the trick??

Ok, so maybe not a downward trend overall recordwise, but did you feel the team/coaching was any better from 2008 to 09.

Need I remind you of the bowl loss that was very winnable

Defensively - YES. Much, much better.
Offensively - NO. Hell NO!!!

Just like he did after the defensive disaster that was 2008, Miles has made some changes in the offensive coaching, namely he brought in Billy Gonzales to coach the WRs. The impact of that move should be evident from Day 1. Also having former AA center Ben Wilkerson helping to coach the O-line can only make it better.

LSU's offense was so bad last year that it can pretty much only improve. It can't get much worse.

I'm calling for 9 or 10 wins this year.

Agreed. I would not call it a dominant win for UF largely because their only touchdown was the product of yet another blown call(obvious offensive holding). Still trying to figure out the LSU play-calling in that one. And no RS.
