I would like to add a few comments concerning the quarterback situation at LSU. I do believe with the departure of Zach Lee that LSU will go to the spread formation more than planned to help prevent injuries to one of the two scholarship quarterbacks. LSU has several players who could run from the spread offense including Spencer Ware, Sam Gibson, Russell Shepard and Rueben Randle who played quarterback in high school.

Dandy Don

I really hope that does not happen. The play book needs to be wide open this year.

If they have to start changing the offense we're screwed.

No matter what I just don't want them to be one-dimensional. There are too many talented threats on offense.

I agree and was only joking cause it's not so much "changing", rather, more of one but I was alluding to those who think one of our QB's ain't got nuttin tween his ears.

I luv Dandy, but they are not changing the offense because a third string freshman QB is no longer here.

You really don't get it, but it's cool. That's kind of expected here.

Well, he was trying to say that they would change things up to protect their two starters. LSU doesn't want to take the chance to have to go to the 3rd string.

I don't see that happening unless there is a total destruction of the offense and both qbs get seriously hurt.

I have to hope they will change things up a little to protect our qb. Who knows though, because it seems our guys have enough trouble learning the plays and knowing how to execute what Crowton has been teaching them for two years now, so I don't see much change.
As long as I don't see JJ running that weak arse option play, I am fine with it.

ZLee's signing didn't impact that. This was never going to be a wide-opened offense. This will be a running team. We will average less than 25ppg. I hope our defense is as good as advertised...........I hope I'm wrong!

Gary Crowton can have a hell of a play book if the offense gets rolling. He has proven it in the past and with the help of Gonzalez it can only get better.

We are soon to find out.

how wouldn't it? I understand it will be a running team, but they will still adjust to protect the qb.

JJ won't be doing the running.

And that should be an adjustment from last year, at least in respect to the option. I'm guessing we won't see much of that.

Not arguing, just trying to explain the rationale DD was using.

You can't win in the SEC featuring a gimmick for an offense. LSU has yet to do much out of the spread/Wild Tiger scheme, and I doubt that changes appreciably this year.

I think Dandy is wrong on this.

There is a guy by the name of Russell Shepard that could totally change this offense and he has the perfect coach to lead him and call plays to best benefit his skill set.

"You play to win the game"

Don't change the offensive strategy/playcalling based on fear of what might happen imo

Why? You've got to take some precautions when things change. It's called stratergization.

You guys can't be naive enough to believe that LSU would change the offense because a frshman quit. There are tons of teams that would love to have two juniors with a year starting experience under their belt to start a season. That is not only a good situation that is an outstanding situation. Unbelievable.

I don't think anyone in their right mind think they will completely change the O. However, they may not be calling some play as much.
