What do you guys think about moving Sam Gibson to Qb? LSU has plenty of depth at wideout and safety. He was decent in high school and I believe could at least compete for the third Qb slot. With the current situation, maybe he's more valuable there, at least for the moment.

or Dalton Botts next year

I'm not concerned with the QB problem as much as I am concerned with the OL problem. Keiland Williams recent performances with Washington shows what a back can do with an OL. Williams and Scott couldn't do anything with last years OL in front of them. In the bowl game against Georgia Tech JJ was the MVP and the announcers and LSU fans talked about how great he was going to become. Well the only major change since that bowl game has been the OL. The running game is more dependent on the OL than anything. Before someone starts that stack the box because of JJ syndrome, teams stacked the box on Alabama and they still ran the football.Hopefully the new personnel on the OL will solve the major problem of the lack of a running game and better pass protection. GEAUX TIGERS!!! I think the hiring of Ben Wilkerson to work with the OL has put the fear of the LORD in "Stud the Dud."

Barrett Bailey and TC McCartney were both 3 star recruits coming out of high school, just as highly rated as CG was... I don't see what all of the bitching is about. I guess it is because they don't have scholarships? Chill the frick out folks and see how this shite plays out. We are not completely fricked as some of you seem to believe.

Teams didn't do that against lsu

Then that just proves how bad the OL really was last year. Hopefully, Lonergan, Blackwell, Hurst and the addition of Ben Wilkerson to help coach the OL will correct that problem.

I watched him in the HS championship game...terrible QB, great athlete, just not at QB.

I like Gibson as a DB or a WR or whatever
But in the 2-3 games of his I saw last year, he was a lousy QB, he sucked. Leave him at DB, he has a much brighter future there
Randy Rosetta mentioned yesterday that Les said Spencer Ware's name pretty quickly when asked a question similar to this, fwiw

Thanks aglandry, you hit the nail on the head. Kind of like when denver was winning superbowls in the late 90s, everyone they plugged in at running back was a "superstar". Its easy when your first contact comes no earlier than 3 yds. beyond the line of scrimage.

I don't trust Sam Gibson reading a defense in crunch time in a crucial SEC game....do you?

Wow...looking at Barrett Baileys offer list it showed one lone scholarship offer from who....Northwestern, he has now stepped into Garretts role as the 3rd string QB. Interesting to think they could be competing against each other at Northwestern.

Stupid...
JJ, JL, BB, TJ, RS, RR...
End of story... with a very good running game LSU is very formidable....
QB issue is over.
NOW STFU!

This year, yes. After 2011, QB depth, or lack thereof, is a huge concern.

Keiland Williams showed what he can do when he doesn't get benched for consistent five yard runs.

This is completely false.
First, McCartney isn't even in the Rivals or Scout databank.
Second, Garrett was rated the #18 pocket passer, and Bailey was ranked #24 duel-threat QB on rivals in 2009.
On Scout, they combine the two types of QBs. Garrett was a 3* #27 overall. Bailey was a 2* #101 overall.
They aren't even close to being "just as highly rated" as Garrett.
