I'm looking to buy either a Viper SS or the Switchblade?

I bought the Summit Goliath last year and really like it. I have an API and an Old Man also, and the Summit is by far the best one.

My Goliath puts me to sleep...
My Ole Man is comfy, but, I don't like doing the stepping over the seat part with big boots and coveralls.. My snake boots always get tangled up in the volleyball net..
My API is ok...

I didn't say anything like that..But, I likes to be comfy, cause usually, it's an ALL DAY sit.. I might jack down to eat a sammich, but, usually back up after the sammich and a nap...

there is nothing like a pre dawn nap....

its a nice feeling to know you won't fall out of it if you do happen to fall asleep.

i don't think i could jump out of my Goliath, if i was all nestled in, especially with my harness on..

On the viper SS you would have to have a mechanical failure or try to jump out of that climber on purpose.

But I also spent the money on a good comfortable safety vest / harnerss and it doesn;t bother me to wear it all day.

I will defiantly invest in a good harness. It sounds like i'm sold on the summit climbing stand.

The only knock i will give it, is on the Viper SS the rail for a rifle rest..it works great for a rifle rest but it gets in the way if you plan to just use this stand for bow hunting. I am usually standing when I bow hunt so its not to big of a deal to me, but if you like to sit and bowhunt the SS may not be the best fit.

I have a Viper SS and love it..It's very comfortable..Do yourself a favor and order new shoulder carrying straps from summit..The ones that come with the stand will eat into your shoulders cause there's no padding on them.

Or you can do like I did...buy some pipe insulation and cut them to the size you need then wrap them in camo tape.

I've been looking at some of the stands mentioned in this thread. To the guys who have the Viper SS, would this stand be better b/c of the wrap around seat and foot platform? I would probably never use the blind.

Or would it just be a waste of money? R. Head

Honestly there are some plus...compared to the SS. I like the padded floor, that would keep noise down for sure. I like the upper part of the seat attaching to the climber and not tree like my SS does.

But I don't know how you would bow hunt out of that if the top bar is not removeable. Looks like a lot is going on in the front of the stand which turns me off. And if you are a big guy that seat may be a little tight fitting....

I think you could rig something up to cover the floor. I don't think its worth the extra hundred bucks...but thats just my opinion.

I think you can move the gun rest horizontal with the seat. I want to go look at it, but I was thinking I could remove the gun rail during bow season and put it back on later. You think it may be on there for good?
