Aston Villa have denied any interest in appointing Diego Maradona as manager after the former Argentina manager revealed an interest in the vacancy at Villa Park.

The former Argentina manager's European representative, Walter Soriano, claims the 49-year-old is in talks with a number of clubs over a possible move to Europe.

The former Napoli and Argentina star left his position as Argentina coach last month after his side were hammered 4-0 by Germany in the quarter-finals of the World Cup.

Every EPL season needs one club in season-long meltdown mode.

Two years ago it was Newcastle. Last year, Pompey.

Could Villa be next?

Can't argue with the potential entertainment value, but Villa would become a goddamn circus if this happened. Fortunately, England hates Maradona and Maradona hates America, so I don't see much hope for him managing an English club owned by an American.

I would love if they were dumb enough to sign him, but they won't. Though the entertainment of having him in the league would be amazing.

The quotes, the 14 different salads, and the toilet warmers. Please don't let me down.

I'd rather have him than Bradley, I'm sad that those are the names being thrown around.

If this happens, I will SO root for Villa. I'm totally in for this, sheerly for entertainment value.

Never said he wasn't. I said I'd rather have Maradona than Bradley. I don't think either significantly boosts the win total, so the more colorful guy is preferred by me.
