Boggs? I think that was his name. I don't think they ever found him or his plane.

U.S. Representative Hale Boggs in 1972. I didn't know that.

U.S. Rep. Nick Begich was also killed on the plane in 1972, and he was the father of current U.S. Senator Mark Begich. Mark defeated former U.S. Senator Ted Stevens (who was apparently in the recent crash) in the 2008 election.

Defense contractor EADS North America says former NASA Administrator Sean O'Keefe was a passenger on a small plane that crashed last night in Alaska.

O'Keefe is the current CEO of the U.S.-based division of the European company. Former Alaska Republican Senator Ted Stevens is also believed to have been on board the plane.

The company says it has no further information about O'Keefe's status.

O'Keefe also served as chancellor at LSU, resigning on June 1, 2008.
