Running QB...

I remember Miles wanting to protect Jordan last season by cautioning his QB not to scramble. This fact coupled with his inability to make quick decisions led to numerous sacks last season (not to mention the suspect o-line). With the added pressure on the offense to produce, can we expect Jefferson to be allowed to make more impromptu rushing attempts this season or will he be strictly a pocket passer?

I expect: (1) that the OL will block better; (2) that the rushing game will be a consistent threat (relieving some pocket pressure); (3) that JJ will throw it away more when needed; and (4) that JJ will be less fearful of throwing ints. I really think these corrections will happen this year to some extent.

Because of that, I expect JJ to wait longer in the pocket, scramble less, take less sacks, and be a more opportunistic scrambler. Consequently, his yds/scramble might increase as well.

Here's to optimism, no?

The Oline didn't play very well last year.

I dunno. I do know I likes me some running QB's - as in designed runs and options in addition to just scrambling.

I don't think either JJ or JL were ever considered running QB's but I'd love to see LSU do more of that if either has developed any ability in that area.

Fuego,

Might not want to ever ask a question on this board if I's you.

As much as I despise Gary Crowton, this year's success/failure will depend on one specific unit: the OL.

If they're good, we'll be good. If they play like the did last year, we're screwed. It's as simple as that.

Believe it or not, I'm not worried about our defense this year. I think they'll be pretty decent.

i dont think jefferson is a very good runner

its odd though, because hes pretty damn fast, especially for his size...but hes not very fluid and looks uncomfortable running

Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices, but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence and fulfills the duty to express the results of his thought in clear form.

The inability to make quick decisions is due to an incompetent offensive coordinator than it is anything else.

In the Florida game, Crowton should have demanded that JJ throw the damn ball. I would have rather seen interceptions than the "playing not to lose".

+100 It seems most of last season we played not to loose. I want us to go out there & bust them in the mouth on both sides of the ball.

Huh... stfu!

Miles told JJ to sit in the pocket and take 37 sacks...

Stupid at best!

JJ had a responsibility to pull the ball down and run or throw it away..

He did not do a good job in this regard!
