Every time I go to Albertsons, all they have is catfish, talapia, "pacific snapper", and salmon.

Tried that pacific crap once, thinking it had to be comparable to red snapper.....WRONG!

Watch them go to their freezer case and rip open bags of shrimp and sell them loose. Or...see them open boxes of frozen catfish from overseas. Then, the shite rots and sticks up the entire store. Albertsons serves bad, bad seafood. Very little is local.

Their fish is so shitty that it stinks up the meat in the case on the other end.

The vast majority of shrimp are sold this way, and it is okay, fresh frozen IQF shrimp are about as good as they get

ETA: any shrimp they get from overseas are not worth a damn, and the Basa fish sux

I worked at a seafood market for awhile in high school and I would say that nearly every seafood market sells shrimp that way. They come in frozen 5lb blocks and then are defrosted and put out on display. We would be fired on the spot if we told anyone they were frozen.

Does Tommy's fish house sell fresh seafood? That might be a good place to check.

ETA: They do.
