drew brees is from austin. westlake high. same school as garrett gilbert (current ut starter)texas schools didnt want him. too short. so, in trade, they took a chance on another qb who was too small in stature. major "something" from a religious high school near the lsu campus. the names are escaping me. anyway, he went on to break most of the big 12 passing records. i guess it worked out for both schools. leaves you scratching ur head when u dont get a kid from ur own backyard.

Doesnt' Louisiana have THE most Super Bowl winning QB's?

I can think of Terry, Doug, those Manning kids. Who else? Bubby Brister was Elway's b/u. Does he count?

Humphries got one in Washington as backup and started in a loss to SF

I keep reading over and over that LSU needs a big time QB. 5 star hero. We got one and he is playing wide receiver. Call me stupid but Jarrett Lee could be the next Drew Brees or Brett Farve if given a chance. He made mistakes early and lost some of his confidence but the kid has heart and a great and accurate arm. He just needs a chance and a coaching staff that will back him and coach him up.

Archie Manning did NOT raise his sons to hate LSU. Can't blame them for not coming here during Hallman/Dinardo flameout years.

Kordell Stewart would have made Hallman look like a much better coach.

Not playing DB with Marshall Faulk.

LSU didn't really try that hard to get Major Applewhite. In hindsight, it might have been a mistake, but at the time we had (I think) Rohan Davey, Craig Nall (and maybe Josh Booty, can't remember what year Applewhite signed--'98 or so?).

oh yeah! what the hell happened there? how did we let him get to a&m? whats the story? let me guess, another curly shuffle? i talked to bennie gilbeaux's sister at the 97 lsu/nd game and she told me how curly fked up his recruitment.

Not sure, but I remember A&M winning 45-7 in Curly's debut. Ugh! That was a preview of things to come.

Why hasn't anyone mention Delhomme?

Loiusiana produced a talented corp of QB's .... Payton Manning, Jake Delhomme, and Josh Booty all came out of high school at the same time if I am not mistaken....

Patrick Ramsey started in the pros...flammed out...but had a starting qb position for a while. Rustonite.

Don't forget Norris Weese (same age as Bert Jones and Joe Ferguson) and David Woodley a Shreveport boy who started in a Super Bowl.

There were some pretty good "pitchers" from the Bayou State such as Ron and Vida for starters.

There really aren't that many QBs produced in La. Particularly in the last 10 yrs. We produce mostly skill position guys and linemen. QB coaching at the HS level also isn't that good in La as it is in other states.

OK not counting the Mannings you are right.

Please show me proof that the QB coaching in La is not as good as in other other states.Per capita,La has produced as many QBs that had good collegeand pro careers as any state. So many guys that could be good QBs are opting for baseball.
Most teams in La are using athletic guys at QB to run some version of the spread offense which doesn't translate into being a pro style recruit in college. Most of these guys run more than they throw.
You also have to consider the population loss over the past 30 yrs due to the oil bust and the fact that college graduates in La. have to leave the state to get jobs where their skills can be utilized and they can earn a decent living.

Don't forget Danny Winprine,Stephan Leflores,Norris Weese,Terry Davis,John Fourcade,Shack Harris,Tom Jones,or Bucky Richardson,or Pat Ramsey,Redskins 1st rd choice about 8 yrs ago.

Bucky came out of Belaire the same year Chris Moock came out of Baker. They basically made out that one would go to LSU and the other A&M, from what I remember. Moock was considered the better passer. I remember him putting over 400 yds on us his final game- brought him to 2000 for the year, and LSU took him

Bert Jones comes to mind as being one of the greatest to play for LSU. Bit the list of others who made it big in the pros is impressive. Terry Bradshaw, Peyton Manning, Bobby Hebert just to name a few. LSU has missed out so many times on quarterbacks who went on to be great in the NFL. And I just can't remember the name of the one from Grambling who won a Superbowl. Is there a reason so many great quarterbacks missed going to LSU? Grades, lack of scholarship offer?

Doug Williams, Bradshaw and Hebert did not have the grades to get into LSU. Bradshaw and Hebert were both huge LSU Tiger fans FWIW. Williams pretty much always wanted to play for Coach Eddie.
