I hate losing and would love to see LSU go undefeated each year, but that is not going to happen at LSU or at any other SEC school, but LSU has been very successful the last five years with only Florida having a better team record during that period.

I believe Les Miles is starting to feel some pressure from fans and people in power to do a better job as a game-day coach, especially in clock management and play calling. I believe Miles is working hard to improve in these areas.

I believe LSU will win nine or ten games and be very competitive in the games they do not win.

He didn't even mention the addition of Ben Wilkerson to the staff, which I think could be one of the more impactful moves of the offseason. I hope that the addition of Gonzo and Wilkerson will make a difference for us. I'm always optimistic leading up to a season, and so is Dandy Don.

The next time he doesn't predict LSU to win at least 9-10 games will be his first.

I wouldn't really qualify that as a "great read". Anyone with a keyboard and an opinion could have typed that. It's not a reach to say that LSU "could" have a great season "if" this happens and that happens.

The problem isn't the overall record in the last five years. It's the DIRECTION the team has been headed over that last five years. With "Saban's players" and many coaches left from the Saban regime, we did much better early in the Les Miles era. Now that those players and coaches have left, things seem to have gotten progressively worse.

That's why fans have had concerns over Miles.

From my perspective, it has come down to one thing over the last 2 years - the WORST quarterback play in the SEC, maybe even in the country. With even a DECENT QB, I think we're playing for the National Championship last year (flame away JJ lovers). The fact is that neither JJ nor JL are decent Div. II QBs, much less SEC. It's incumbent on Miles to recruit a top notch QB and develop him - something he hasn't done since Saban's players have left.

For fun, who are these coaches to which you refer? Here's a list of coaches that Miles retained from Saban's staff that left the team before 2008...

Bo Davis Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coordinator
Jimbo Fisher Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks
Will Jones Strength & Conditioning Assistant
Stacy Searels Offensive Line

So which ones are responsible for the "decline" of the program? Jimbo? Searels? In Crowton and Stud's first years, we broke every LSU record there was as a result of the production from these positions. Unless you're assuming that two assistant coaches were responsible....

So if Miles has to excuse his MVP QB because of discipline problems, and you feel that this is the missing cog to a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, what the frick is your problem?

First, why don't you count the number of 5* QBs to come out of high school in the last 5 years and consider that we signed 2 of them. For your development argument, we were getting along just fine developing Perrilloux until he wanted to be a dickhead. After that, there was no time for development. Lee and Jefferson were put into the starting rotation well before they were developmentally ready to do so. There's a reason you don't hear about freshman and sophomore phenoms at the QB position.

No way. Not with that offensive line, not with that swiss cheese defense. It's not to say that we couldn't have beaten the national champion (alabama) with better QB play, but there's no way we make it through the year with less than 2 losses with that line and that defense.

What two teams beat last year all things constant but we're starting Perrilloux instead of Jefferson?

Actually, by universal standards, last season was a better one than the year before, which by definition ruins your progressively worse take.

You do relize Miles has a better record with "Saban's players" than he did himself?

Saban once said at fight club he would NOT play JR or MF no matter what their frosh years because he went through the same thing at MSU, he played them too early, and it ruined their development.

I think we all see exactly what me meant with JL and JJ.
