I'm seriously considering ditching my EJ guy and going with vanguard for my IRA Roth.

What's your opinion of putting all your ROTH investments in a single retirement target fund such as VFORX (exp ratio=0.2%) as opposed to spreading out over seperate index funds (ex. small, mid, and large cap index funds, intl index, bonds, etc)? I'm thinking there's not a significant difference since funds like VFORX hold index funds anyway.

For what its worth, all of my ROTH funds are currently in VTI.

For an index fund or an ETF, low expense ratio is about the only thing you can control.

If you want to be 90% equity, but light on international exposure given global market cap, go for it. EJ is not doing anything for you, so Vanguard would be a much better long term option to save you expenses. At current valuations I would not be a big proponent of 90% equity exposure, but you could add either short term or intermediate term bond exposure, and add some ex-US small cap (VSS or the mutual fund) and gain more diversification over time. Good for you on ditching EJ, nothing but another layer of cost and no value added.

I spread over several index funds and ETF's, most of them Vangard.
