Damn they made an offer and he accepted.
He did not negotiate at all. I wondering if no agent involved in this.

His father/coach was his advisor.

I'm sure he set his price and the Red Sox were willing to take him up on it.
There was a poster earlier that said the details were ironed out prior to the draft. It's not uncommon.

don't know about yal but i kind of let that one go already in my mind. i know he slid a little bit but you had to figure boston would dish it out.

Yea he was one that I thought the odds were against us. We have Jones to play 3rd next year most likely so it's ok. I just hope the pitchers we have a chance at don't sign.

I was the same way once I heard who picked him. The only one in the top 11 rounds I'm holding out hope for is Lee, and Gausman to a lesser extent.

I wonder what took him so long to decide???

His dad will "overuse" his money, with his permission of course.

Barbe players don't go to college
You would think we would have learned that lesson awhile ago

There have been plenty of Barbe players go to college. (Johnny Thibideaux, Turner Brumby) Guys taken in the first round (Nagle, lawerance) offered good money would be stupid to go to college. 1.6 mil is life changing money for a kid with parents that are teachers/ coaches. I would have liked to see him as a Tiger but can't blame him at all.
