From Best Buy. They offer a 2-year warranty for $60. Should I get it or stick with the 1-year manufacturer's warranty?

I think it is a 2yr warranty with Best Buy. So if something goes wrong you just bring it to best buy for a new one.

Thanks for the input, I picked up Lil Big Planet, GOW3, and Arkham Asylum for it. I have no intention of seeing sunlight for a few days

not to make you feel bad but kotaku just published a story about a new ps3 bundle that includes an HDMI cable and LBP. don't know about the price though...

but not a bad decision at all, esp. LBP. neat platformer with a great soundtrack - but the user created content is really what's tops.

I've never heard of failures within 24 months.

Most seem to hit around 30 or so months.

But that was 1st and 2nd generation.

The slims seem to have less trouble

I say keep the $60. If it does break after a year, there are plenty of third party companies (like PSR1.com) that will fix it relatively cheap
