Well, not the ENTIRE point but I guess you're correct.

I witnessed that crap. It was pretty scary.

No, you are totally wrong as you are about 80% of the time.

Your assignment for today is to find out what an exchange is supposed to do.

Hint:... An exchange exists to discover ______?

It's about time someone explained to you totally wrong headed, highly educated, clowns why Mr Market always wins. You don't get it now and you did not get it two years ago. What the flock have you been taught? Nada. You pay good money to listen to clowns that don't know how a free mkt works? That makes you about as dumb as those that bought 'really shitty deals' from the GS prop desk...

You will need an entire reeducation when this crap really goes down. Perhaps you should start reading the Austrian economists? Get a leg up? Good luck to you.

Just to clarify for those that do not click on links:

NASDAQ to cancel all trades made from 1:40 to 2: 00 pm today greater or less than 60 percent away from the consolidated last print in that security at 2:40 p.m or immediately prior.

You're right, its not the entire point, but it is certainly a large point. Exchanges serve to standardize contracts, provide liquidity, and eliminate counterparty risk. This is an example of eliminating counterparty risk.

According to the article the thread title is not correct.

quote:

Nasdaq Operations said it will cancel all trades executed between 2:40 p.m. to 3 p.m. showing a rise or fall of more than 60 percent from the last trade in that security at 2:40 p.m or immediately prior.
