I do not follow the pro game that closely but I can remember the Saints having a lot of injuries to the secondary last year. Even starting two guys who were signed just weeks before being thrust into the starting spots.....Mckenzie I think was one. I just think that as a player who is physical he has the ability to be a special teams player. I could see him on kickoff team at least give him that over just practice squad.

If they use him at safety he could potentially take Sharpers place when he decides to hang it up for now he would be a good backup

Chris McAllister was the other.

But the Saints have used their first round pick on a CB two years running. Coleman has to raise some big-name eyebrows to have a shot to make the roster as a CB instead of ST.

I agree with you that he has to do alot but making the move from SS to LB kinda shows he maybe versitale enough to pull it off if that means making the team. I am just trying to give him the benefit of the doubt because he did a lot of good things at LSU.

While he did have a great career here, that doesn't necessitate the translation into a successful NFL career. The fact is that while he could play both in college, Coleman has to make some pretty big adjustments in his game to be efficient at either position in the NFL. He's more likely to make the move to Safety, but ironically, that's a position of strength for the Saints now, meaning he's more likely a ST'er and depth at the position.
