It was good 15 years ago. Maybe they are slipping. Did you get it fully loaded or were you picky with the fixin's?

First off, it is called Old Tyme Grocery.

Second, never go on a Saturday. That's Mr. John's day off.

Third, Get the roast beef.

Forth, nothing in Lake Charles is better than Lafayette.

Was it Confucius, or Roy Rogers that said, "you can lead a horse to water, but, you can't make him drink" ??

dude... no. they use manda roast beef. you can get the same bland shite sliced for you at walmart. if you want a decent roast beef poboy go to chris's poboys. they actually cook a roast until it falls apart. they dont serve you cold cuts.

old tyme grocery is severely overrated by lafayette people. its seems like a place that might have been good 20 years ago... and people are just afraid to admit it sucks now.

Chris' >>>>>>>>>>> Olde Tyme.

The first time I tried OT's roast beef, I ate about two bites, then I threw it away.

I don't like their food whatsoever. Cash only policy sucks. I'll never go back.

There poo-boy bread is no good... You guys want a good Poo-Boy, your gonna have to New Orleans. Not anywhere in the quarter but little grocerys and poo-boy shops in the neighborhoods. Try Short stop on Airlin and transcontinental in metairie, right down the street from saints facility, has the best rb, and eveything else is good. Also Rocky and Carlos in chalmette has damn good hamberger and veal cutlet poo boys, aswell as everything else they serve.

This is a true statement proven by the lines of people at McDonald's, Burger King, Taco Bell and the like. There were several threads on the new shrimp taco or whatever it is at Taco Bell. The excitement was monumental.

ETA: Please see, also, the Chick-Fil-A thread below with the dancing bananas expressing delight over some sort of spicy chicken thing. People will likely stand in line for it.

There are plenty of folks with taste buds which love fast food. I don't have a problem with it. I just think it's bad, but someone else might think something I like is bad. To each his or her own.

The only decent thin6 about old tyme is the sauce they use on their bbq ham poboy....Just a combination of jack millers and mayo but its really tasty...I add a bit of chipotle adobo sauce and serve it on brisket poboys with 6rilled red onions and sometimes smoked cheddar....
