10 team keeper league, must give up a draft pick prior to the round the player was selected.

Strasberg (13th round pick) for A-Rod (1st round pick).

On one hand, Strasberg is starting out in the minors, but could see some action this year, but this is a long term play and can be kept for potentially the next 12 seasons if he develops into an ace. A-Rod is a stud that will help the other team win now, but he can't keep A-Rod.

So, a 13th round pitching phenom with lots of potential for arguably the best 3B in fantasy, but for one year only?

Your thoughts?

are you actually asking if a trade of strasberg for arod is FAIR?!?!?!

i would fricking punch the commish square in the nuts lift him off the ground and repeat the procedure about 10 times if this shite was allowed to go down in my league

He will be starting by June at the latest.

As for the trade. I have no idea. I dont do fantasy sports. And dont understand its appeal.

I'm the commish and I called April Fool's BS once I heard about the trade. But then the manager started to argue the merit of the deal given the keeper aspect of the league, but I still didn't like it. Just wanted to see what others thought. Turns out I was right initially about it being a BS trade.

The trade was an April's Fool joke, but...

..it does bring up an interesting situation with keeper leagues. Obviously a trade like this now(before the season) isnt fair, but at some point it becomes not only fair, but unfair in the other direction. If this was proposed June 1st, does it become fair then? July 1st? So if the guy who wants Strasberg is willing to take the gamble before Stras comes to the majors (because after he join and if he performs really well, no owner is going to trade him in a keeper league), why is it THAT ridiculous of a trade?

I'm just playing devil's advocate because its fun....but these keeper leages do open up new dynamics that make things a lot more interesting....
