I have a couple questions I figured some of you could help me with. I'll be in New Orleans soon and want to get a good breakfast/brunch and want to try another poboy place. I love Parkway but want to try something new. Any recommendations? Or should I just stick with Parkway?

Also, should I go to Commander's or Brennan's for a good breakfast/brunch? Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I'd head to Casamento's around 11-11:30 to beat the crowd and have some of their awesome fried oysters. The large oyster dinner isn't too big though, so get two orders or maybe apps first.

Radosta's in Old Metry. Try the Joan Special and an order of onion rings. Also enjoy the bacon/oyster/havarti @ College Inn.

You might enjoy breakfast/brunch at Luke on either of those days. Scroll all the way down for the brunch menu.

LINK

It appears that on days on which brunch is also served, the menu is pretty big, so there are lots of choices between breakfast, brunch or lunch.

WTF, dude? It's hard enough getting into that place without attracting tourists.

Get this straight, Riccabono's is for locals, and don't forget it.

ETA: Send the tourists to wait in line at Camelia Grill.

Seriously, Casamento's is one of the great dive-seafood restuarants in the country. Go there and get a dozen raw, some crab claws(small order) and either an oyster or soft -shell crab loaf. Cannot be beat.

What he said. It's worth it just for the raw oysters, but everything else listed is pretty awesome as well.

As for po-boys:

I'm partial to Domilise's seeing that I worked there, but if you aren't getting shrimp or oyster, go somewhere else, like Mahoney's or Radosta's (great onion rings, also). Also a suggestion for Domilise's, oyster po-boy with lite mayo, lettuce, and light roast beef gravy. Nothing else and make sure they don't drench it with gravy, so you can taste the oysters. It's legit. If you want roast beef po-boys, go to R&O's, Parkway, or even Parasol's before Domilise's.

Not to hijack the thread, but question for glassman:

Going to Clancy's on Thursday. Suggestions? Generally, I get fish or soft shell crab but am looking to branch out.

The smoked pork loin is awesome for an entree. I can't ever go there(like 100 times) without getting the sweetbreads for an app. If you like steaks the filet with bernaise is as good as it gets.

Crabmeat salad, shrimp remoulade, sweetbreads are all as good as it gets for apps. I usually get whatever the fish special is for an entree.

Do not forget the homemade ice creams for dessert. If they are offering banana get it, if not the peppermint with chocolate sauce is always ridiculous.
