1) O-line run blocking looked much improved
2) Ridley ran with some more purpose and made some cuts, looked better than last year already. This kid works hard and you can only expect him to get better by the time the season starts
3) Ford - The best RB at LSU since Addai (maybe better, time will tell)
4) Russel Sheppard - Will find a way to get the ball either from the WR or RB spot, regardless of the QB.
5) Our D still can't stop 3rd and short, plenty of time for the coaches to try and fix that.
6) JJ was horrible, hopefully this serves as motivation for him to get better over the summer, the kid has all the tools, just needs to get it going, plenty of time for him to think about this one.

Overall as compared to last, the offense will be better this year and the Defense will remain about the same. Looking at a 3/4 loss season most likely.

I'd put getting a pass rush as a positive.

Not many defenses can stop it with 3 of 4 DL starters out.

I'm not worried about the D...yet. Nothing close to the first-team D was on the field at one time today.

Ford was the bright spot.

I was concerned with some of RS's dropped balls.

Loston will be a beast.

Agreed, though I hate to judge an O-Line in a game like this. I thought Ford showed exceptional vision, though he may lack true burner speed. Though if he can average 7yds a pop, I'll take that all day long.

I hope they realize this is a problem.....Their mindset may be just to sit back and wait until the other team makes a mistake or kicks a field goal, which is totally unacceptable and is not the sign of a championship team.

What was the difference between Gary Gibbs and Gary Williams for the Saints? A couple players, and a whole lot of aggressiveness.

Though unless our offense improves it may be tough to turn our defense loose.

Like I posted in another thread, he looked good......though if you take away a couple of his drops he could have had a spectacular day. Hopefully he continues to iron out the wrinkles.

Part of the game is knowing what you aren't good at and having enough time to work them. The earlier you know, the better you are when the real games start. My glass half-full perspective.

I thought there were a good bit of positives. I don't see another 3/4 loss season, sorry. I refuse to beileve the players and coaches wll allow that to happen this year, being it's a very important season.

I could see this turning into a season where the team is better then what the record shows. LSU has a brutal schedule this year.

Forgot about Special Teams. Jasper looks like an All-SEC kicker and Peterson might take a few returns, like he would've done in the spring game, to the house. Sam Montgomery and KeKe Mingo together on 3rd and long situations will be trouble for opposing offenses.

I would hope so.....it seems like they have a very strong core, but need real help at LB and QB.

It really works to our disadvantage that we start the season off with relatively difficult games. I think with all of the offseason movement I would like to get a game or two under my belt against lesser competition before strapping it up against a quality opponent.

Mingo has really surprised me. Small for his position but damn is he fast. I can't wait to see him chasing QBs all over the backfield and sending offenses in a fritz this season. If we can just tighten up that middle we can be golden in front.

It's going to be tough showing up against a quality team for the first game, and several afterward. But it's even more of a way for this team to prove themselves. They understand what needs to be done, they understand how they have to play. I think you give them the long 6 months ahead and we will see a completely focused team out there in September.

I like our run game this year! Ford is a beast and Ridley is a stud too.I like what I see as always with Shepard and the D looks pretty good.JJ had a bad game and Lee looks like he has gotten better in the pocket. Some things never change for Lee but all in all he looks better.Mingo is a Beast-O!!I think he'll fit in good with Shepp in that roll on Defense. Can't wait for this season!

Miles promised a more physical run game and I was very excited to see that today. Ridley and Ford work hard and some of those cuts up the middle were outstanding. Granted our O Line looks to be making it alot easier on our guys as well.

These guys run hard, and we haven't even seen Murphey yet.

On top of that we got Shepard switching around, and Peterson at TE is a great weapon as well. If we just smooth out our QBs (we have lots of time to do so) then we have a serious offense here.

Oh and hopefully no stupid play calling from Crowton. Ugh

Serious question, I keep hearing fans and announcers say JJ "has all the tools." All the tools for what?
Besides being tall and being semi-mobile what other tools does he have to play the QB position?
In watching him he is not accurate, has a long delivery, not decisive and takes WAY too many sacks.
