Anybody download the demo? It's short but pretty cool. I loved playing all the other Splinter Cells. I think this one is going to be awesome.

it's supposed to be out next month.
I could go either way on this one. It's probably fun, but I'm not sure how much more ground this series has left to tread.
I suppose the new twist is that Fisher is no longer affiliated with Third Echelon. He's on the run, playing the role of a vigilante looking for clues regarding his daughters death. I didn't play Double Agent, so I have no idea how she died, but I guess that's when it happened.

It comes out mid-april. It's pretty bad arse. Kind of like Jack Bauer in 24. snapping people's necks, shooting them in the face, the usual way the government fights crime.

Can't wait for this, one of my fave games. What's new in this one?

If you have xbox live download the demo.
All the controls have changed. You are no longer sneaking around hiding and shite (you are but not like in the original ones). You are faster and its easier to kill multiple people at the same time.

I just traded in MW2 to preorder it... can't freaking wait. Splinter cell is basically the only game besides EA games that I play consistently.

No, it's an xbox exclusive, or whatever they call it.

I used to LOVE splinter cell titles.
But kinda like Metal Gear, has no place in the multiplayer age.
Why drop $60 on something I'll finish over a weekend and be done with it when the same gets me something with multiplayer that I'll play for months.
Arkham Asylum is a great example of this. One of the best games I've ever played but nonmultiplayer games just don't make sense anymore.

Well, I think so.
Games with no multiplayer should be devalued but they cost the same as games with multiplayer.
The market decides ultimately but personally I don't see the point of paying the same for a game that has the shelf life of 2-7 days and a game that has a shelf life of months with multiplayer.

I bought Arkham Asylum cause my son wanted it and like I said, been gaming since Pong and it was one of the best games I have ever played. When It was over after a few days, though, that was it.
That's not the way it works anymore.
This is not 1995.

I don't think that single player games are devalued at all.
If anything, multiplayer games are the ones that seem to lose their luster over the years. Most multiplayer games are a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy. You can only do deathmatch, capture the flag, or territories in so many different fashions before the formula becomes stale.
Modern warfare games seem to be all the rage now (Bad Company, Call of Duty, new Medal of Honor), but they only made the switch after WWII became unbearable to keep rehashing. Modern war sims will eventually become oversaturated in the market and they'll have to come up with some new setting or idea to throw at us.
I'll take a unique single player experience with some solid storytelling over another run of the mill online shooter any day.

maybe someone just doesn't like said multiplayer games and actually likes the other games?
I know I'm in the minority but I personally think 1st person shooters are boring as hell. I dont have xbox live or an internet source to hook up my PS3 due to traveling a lot so I play all of the EA games against the computer. There are millions of people who dont necessarily play multiplayer games but still play. To say there is no place is pretty crazy.

I like a good single player game. Listening to little kids curse on MW2 gets old.
