Jarret was thrown in to a starting role with not much time to prepare and like Jefferson was very young. At this point being young is not an excuse for either one. Jarret did fairly well when he had backup help to settle his nerves. Once Hatch got hurt and all responsibility fell on his shoulders alone all went down hill fast.
I think Lee and Jefferson should battle it out with neither named as the starter until one of them wins the job out right.

So I guess Lee is outperforming JJ in practice, but since JJ was the QB last year, he will not relinquish the role until he graduates?

Lee looks great in practice.

And then he steps on the field and people crap themselves.

What makes you think either do or don't. Obviously there is no overwhelming consensus that Jefferson has what it takes.
Who made you all knowing QB evaluator extraordinaire anyway

over the last two years there has been a QB battle between Lee and Jefferson and it doesn't appear that it was even a close competition. Jefferson won. Now the battle for backup is a real and ongoing battle between the experienced Lee vs a raw but talented Garrett. May the best man win.

Well the coaches, who are paid to evaluate, obviously feel like the team has the best shot of winning with JJ at QB

Our head coaches statement involving JJ causes me to think otherwise.

I thought Les said other wise to some degree.

I'm just saying before we piss away the season some competition would be good. If Jefferson emerges hands down then good. I'm not a Jefferson hater by any means. I just would like to see someone at QB that performs like he is the leader, makes the right reads and has some pocket presence awareness.

Ummmm That wasn't Lee for sure. I mean Lee couldn't beat out Andrew Hatch for the starting job and lost the job to a true freshman. I don't want to bash Lee, but he just doesn't seem to be a good quarterback and if he or Garrett were outperforming JJ I'm sure the coaches would get them in the game. I mean that's how JJ took over the starting spot from Lee.

Maybe we both such, but that doesn't change the fact that Hatch and Lee were bad QBs. The RP problem has hurt the LSU QB situation.

I'm one of the few that haven't given up on JLee.

I give him a ton of credit for still being at LSU, and not quitting or transferring to another school.

I would like to see him play some. Maybe he'll end up being a better QB than JJ. WHo knows.

However, last year Lee had that start against LaTech and didn't look very good. In fact, he looked pretty bad.

But still, give him credit for sticking with it.

Both have problems. Both have the potential to get better. Neither is an all conference player based on what they have showed on the field. What bothers me a lot about this is that neither has shown any significant improvement in the way they have played. And yes I saw slight improvement in Jefferson late in the year, but not enough to feel comfortable. Right now, I'd like to see Jefferson as the starter, but only because Lee looked so bad against Tech.
