Trent Richardson? They seem to be similar physically. I was very impressed with TR last year. I was actually just as impressed with him as I was Ingram.

TR has actually played in a college football game and Ford hasn't. Not much to really compare.

Hence the question...for those who have studied game film of MF or who have watched him play in person in high school, how does he relate to TR.

It never ceases to amaze me how people who have a similar interest (LSU) can be complete dickheads for no apparent reason. It also amazes me how many of these same people will be happy to cast internet stones but are pusses in reality.

Richardson is faster than Ford, Ford likely a tad stronger. Richardson is more talented overall.

If this is true, then that is really impressive.
Richardson is a freakin beast.

I doubt Ford is stronger, but who knows.

That's really not true.

1) He's a lot smaller than Richardson. I'd say Richardson has 15-20 pounds on him. Richardson is more of a physical specimen.
2) He's looked fine in practice. Last year the word was he was timid (which apparently he was at Leesville at a young age), but apparently this year he's started to outperform Murphy/Ridley in some of the drills and I believe Ridley himself has said he's gonna be a good one. He blows through the gauntlet and other things like that. These are what the practice reports state, of course.

Interesting.

per the Dandy one....

quote:

Coach Miles has 46 returning lettermen and a deep depth chart at most positions, but not at running back. Richard Murphy is not taking part in any contact work this Spring, but is reported to be the quickest of the returning running backs. Michael Ford has been the most impressive of all the running backs in Spring practice. Ford is a 5'10", 207, RSFR who runs a 4.5 forty and benches 465 pounds. He is a downhill runner with breakaway speed. Stevan Ridley (6'0", 225) also has speed and is very strong. With Murphy, Ford and Ridley, LSU will not be in bad shape at the position, and when Spencer Ware (5'11", 220) and Jakari Gore (5'9", 175) arrive next Fall the running back position will be in great shape.

I think josh has a friend or roommate on the team...

<also, per the Shepard story on ESPN>

quote:

I’m going to get in the backfield some and do a lot of things, sweeps, catching the ball out of the backfield, some of the things they may not ask Stevan Ridley or Richard Murphy to do,” Shepard said.

Actually running back is about the easiest position to make an immediate impact on a team and often freshmen running backs light it up.

So I think its fair to question the attributes of height, weight, speed, elusiveness, strenght in Bench Press, and verticle leap, ect.

By the way, I think I read that Ford benches around 450....

I guess he wasn't that good then, considering 3 guys were ahead of him. If he was that great, I would think he would of played. Especially considering that rb is the easiest position on the field to play.

Just heard the exact opposite. Said the defense can't do anything with him and he's a beast. Sam Montgomery and Josh Downs are tearing it up, lb's are going to be hurting, and the secondary is going to be strong.

With the oline LSU will have this season, it doesn't matter who is in the backfield. There will not be much production, on the ground, coming from any of the rbs.

It basically blows my mind that Mike Ford was benching 450+lbs at 5'10" coming out of highschool

don't thinks so, practically same size. LSU's bio list M Ford at 5'10" 210, after being in the weight room for awhile now, doubt he weighs that anymore, probably anywhere from 220 to 225, which is the same size as Richardson.
