I had to think about this answer hard, getting to see so many LSU greats. I only wish I would have been old enough to see the Pistol play. But my favorite player of all-time is TODD KINCHEN. Watching LSU as a youngster, this guy brought me so much joy, I thought everytime he received a punt he was going to take it the distance. 5-11 187 fast and all heart!! Let me hear yall's...

Meh, if he can live up to the hype. So far he's just been above average.

It is Shaq and no one else is close.

The only other sport personality/slash sports super stars off the top of my head in his league is are Charles Barkley and Jared Allen(not as accomplished as the other two of course).

Modern day...It would have to be Hester....He had that 'something' that made him even better than what you expected to see. Not the most talented but he had 'heart'.

Back in his day....Billy Cannon. He was a threat anytime he touched the ball......carried a magical feeling with him.

But the most talented player that had 'heart' and 'magic' would have to be my all time favorite, Pete Maravich. I think it was in '64, his freshman year (?) I remember seeing him at the Cow Palace...it was very weird watching the crowd leave after the Freshman Game before the Varsity came on the floor. What made his Freshman year so special was that he did things that no one had even dreamed of doing with the basketball....and did them during the game.

If you blinked you would miss his behind the back passes...he would shoot shots from so far out that many would have been 3 pointers today (No one did that back then)......and the most amazing thing about that was that he made most of them to the crowds enjoyment. Opposing fans would clap for and cheer him as much as the home crowd. On the way out of a game you'd hear a buzz from everyone, reliving the amazing shots and moves they had seen...Everyone!

He was special all thru his LSU career, but by his Senior year you had come to expect the unexpected. His First year....well, it was just pure delight! The crowd would ooohh and aaahhh and then break into wild applause constantly. I have never seen any athlete, in any sport, at any level create the amazement and excitement that Pete did during his first year (especially his first) at LSU!!

Having witnessed The Pistol was a memory that I will have all my life...to try to describe how he played would be impossible because he was that GOOD...M Jordan was a great player, but in my opinion, The Pistol was more of the greatest player to ever play the game.
