In my heart of hearts I'd say top 5.

Top 1 this year.

I would rank the Top 6 like this:

1) Bellichik
2) Coughlin
3) Payton
4) Reid
5) Fisher
6) Tomlin

Sean Payton moves to #2 on Monday if they win.

He said current. Doesn't get more current than this season. And this season, he's 1.

Many people were complaining about his coaching ability the last two years for a reason. He wouldn't be a top coach without all the new faces on defense and the emergence of PT. But at the same time he's the reason for improving the supporting cast that has brought him success. I'd say as a game manager he's good but not great. As a team manager, he's setting up the Saints to be the next dynasty.

top 5.

I like Whisenhunt, the man can coach. He could take Coughlin's place in that list.

Since Payton became a Head Coach they both have a 38-26 regular season record. Coughlin made the playoffs 3 times, with a 3-2 record and one Super Bowl VICTORY. Payton has made the playoffs twice, and is 3-1.

So yes.....Seriously. I basicaaly have them tied. Y'all are some ADD MoFo's. Just like the media who picks the Saints to have no chance because of the Vikings game....only remember what you just saw.

I'm not denying his ability to coach... just the fact that you think there is only one coach better than him.

Rephrase the question and ask, "who would you take over Sean Payton?"

My answer personally is no one. I had a much different opinion last year and I am eating crow on it. Payton has definitely recognized weaknesses in his coaching and has taken the steps to correct them. You can't win in the NFL and make it to the superbowl with no defense, he corrected this problem and then some.
