Whats his story? I thought he was supposed to walk on last year but he's not on this or last year's roster.

Good question. I just assumed he walked on, but maybe not?

Yea, I mean the guy was good enough to get a look from the recruiting sites and you never know who will develop and mature most so it would be nice to have him on board

his rivals profile said he was a preferred walk on. Greyshirting would mean he would get a scholarship this spring and i dont think thats happening

In your recent memory has a preferred walk-on got PT??

I think Coleman and Trindon were greyshirts and they played obviously but preferred walk-ons...

Hatch was a walk on originally. That guy Dennis Johnson is a walk on and played sparingly at DT

Bailey should have gone D-IAA or D-II and tried to play. His dad thinks he is LSU caliber and advised him, but he is not SEC or D-IA caliber.

i talked to him yesterday, he said he will be at spring practice. I was lucky enough to get to know him when he was at university and trust me, he's the real deal. He just didn't have a lot of talent around him to put up amazing number. His receivers dropped a lot of passes and his line was awful.

Bailey was both a preferred walk-on and a greyshirt. LSU thought that he was kind if a late bloomer, so they asked him to walk-on in the spring rather than fall. That says a lot. He can then redshirt in the fall and will basically be a 20 year old freshman the following year.

He walked on and was on the season roster

Explanation: Actually, his name did appear on the pre-season roster as " #17, QB". That was when he was still expected to register in the Fall as a full-time student and practice with the team when Fall practice opened as a preferred walk-on. (Regular walk-ons can't practice until school starts in the Fall.) But Crowton and Bailey talked after summer workouts and agreed to the grayshirt/preferred walk-on status to be delayed until Spring semester. Thus he had to remain a part-time student through the summer and fall class periods in order to qualify as grayshirt this Spring. He did pledge a frat, but he was able to do that as a part-time student. If he had taken a full classload in the Fall he would have lost his redshirt year. So, summing up, the decision to grayshirt him came just before Fall practice started, making him ineligible to participate in Fall workouts with the team, thus saving him a year of eligibility, but too late to prevent his name from appearing on the official roster released by LSU.

So after the gray shirt he's still considered a preferred walk-on?
