according to the NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy, "If 'who dat' is used in a manner to refer to Saints football, then the Saints own the rights

On Monday, the NFL registered a trademark for use of the phrase "who dat" on apparel with the Florida Department of State, according to state records

The NFL is right on this issue. You can't take it upon yourself to start selling merchandise with the brand image of some other company on it. Saints fans need to stop whining about this.

I understand their point.....some of the shirts they showed on WWL looked like Saints stuff. You can't have the FDL and Who Dat on a shirt, in black and gold.

Legal, IMO.

No NFL logo, no mention of the Saints, and the fleur-de-lis is not the official Saints logo.

Well if it's not the Saints FDL then they can use whatever FDL they want. It is the sign of the city not just the Saints.

The original offending shirt had "#whodat" on it and a fleur de lis like the one on the city flag, yet that is not okay?
That is what started this it got all messed up when two stories, one used on saintsreport. Showed a shirt that used the exact saints fdl. That is no good. But as mentioned earlier the NFL does not sell who dat shirts. The fans make them and now they are told they can't. I can't see how it hurts the NFL when it is a product they don't use. And the bs they pulled in FL is more of the same bs.
The NFL does not own who dat
