Anyone been to John Besh's Luke Restaurant in New Orleans? Any suggestions on what to order? Thanks in advance.

Best deal is the oyster on the half shell happy hour.

The happy hour is incredible! Sitting at the bar and having oysters and talking to the shucker is great.

The 2 times that I have sat at a table....the service was horrible.

I always do happy hour at the bar as mentioned for 25 cent oysters and half price drinks. The burger is really good too (it's like $16 but it's huge so we always split one, and they give us two orders of fries). Service at the bar is always great.

I pretty much like everything on the menu, with a special nod to the choucroute garnie, the rabbit pate, the matzo ball soup and the burger.

shrimp and grits are really good, as is the BLT; the BLT has some of the best bacon I have eaten, as well as a fried soft-shell crab. also, the fries are excellent.

i've always sat at a table and have never had bad service, but my sample size is relatively small.

It's all pretty damned too, imo. Service is okay but it's busy during lunch.

I've been 8 times in about 6 months. The couchon de lait sandwich is awesome. So is the Luke burger, shrimp and grits, and their seafood gumbo is one of the best. The roux is so dark and seasoned very well. The softshell crab BLT isn't on the menu right now. My husband thought that sandwich was great too. I would love to try breakfast there, but haven't yet. Great beers, get the waiter to recommend something. We love this place!

Sadly, I hated this place when I went. And I see people saying so many good things, so I obviously just picked a terrible thing to order.

The appetizer we ordered has escaped me. But I rememeber liking it. I ordered the crabmeat ravioli and it was watery, came with like 4 raviolis (very tiny ones) and made me SOOOOOO sick.

I will say the Hazelnut Creme Brulee with fruit was heaven.

That is what I had on my last visit - never went back after that.

Couldn't freaking believe they tried to pass that ravioli off as an entree.

I've never even considered ordering the crabmeat ravioli. Looks like I've been smart not to do so.

Just stick with the burger and the gumbo.

And what in the hell ever happened to the Rita Benson thread?!

I think too much info was divulged. And, by the way, did they axe the other Rita Benson thread this evening?

never mind . . . it just got bumped
