about to buy a PS3 ..

Could y'all tell me if this is a good deal? A friend has one that is 80gb's and comes with a wireless controller,all cables, original box and papers and 3 games metal gear 3, prototype, and can't remember the last one. Also 4 usb ports, not sure if it's standard or not ( 360 fan boy

Yeah, if its backward compatible, its a heck of a deal.

Ask him to plug it in and let you play a game or two on it.
Then if you decide to buy it and you get the yellow light, you'll just have to fix it yourself. $165 is a good deal though. I'd buy that if I had that offer right now.

if it works and it's backwards compatible, you could probably buy it just to put it on ebay and make some money

Thanks for the replies much appreciated, I'm definitely going to check it out and make sure it works properly before dropping any kind of cash. Seemed like a good deal to me so thanks for solidifying it. Haven't had a playstaion since the original one so this would be a nice upgrade , and I actually thought about buying it and putting it up on ebay if I didn't like it but they have gotten terrible with the fees they charge now. And never heard of the yellow light on the PS3 so thanks for the heads up! I'll be on the look out for that. Thanks again y'all hopefully my next thread on here will be looking for people to play with on psn

80gig 4 USB should be backwards compatible, thats what I have. It came in the metal gear solid 4 bundle pack. Those things sell for big bucks since backward compatible models aren't made any more and according to Sony (at least so far) will never be made again.
Every PS3 that I have heard of that suffered the yellow light of death were original 60 gig models (were stuffed with ps3 and ps2 hardware whereas the 80gig used software emulation for backwards compatibility), but would definitely check it out before you buy.
