Caught some of the postgame with him and Hawthorne. He sounds genuinely upset about the outcome of the game. I really respect that, he didn't try to sugar coat what happened or make excuses.

I really feel bad since he was really dealt a bad hand with the scholarship situation where he had litle control. I hope next year with the recruiting class and Malcolm White we can show marked improvement and the following year become a contender again. I really think this guy has what it takes to be a really good coach, he just needs some ammo.

yep, i feel pretty comfortable with him at the helm...this team is very markedly overmatched each game, yet they play hard and stay in the ballgames for a while.

as long as fans understand and give him some time, we should be fine.

With the impatient fans we have nowadays, I wouldn't bet the farm on this one. Hopefully the powers that be realize we need someone like Johnson as coach, and give him the time to turn this around.

Luckily, the general apathy surrounding basketball will allow Trent to keep fighting and coaching up a young team.

I just feel bad for Tasmin.

I like Trent but I don't feel bad. He makes a decent salary. LSU is improving the facilities. And HE elected to hold off scholarships (which probably will turn out to be a good move). It will take him longer but he doesn't have to worry about an over-rabid fanbase for Basketball. Die-hards would have settled for anyone to get rid of Brady. My guess is he knew what he was getting into with LSU Basketball but he's got to be disappointed at fan enthusiasm even for this season. Did LSU have a total sell-out for any game last season? Florida and Xavier maybe? SEC Champs and NCAA appearance and the program still didn't draw. That's has to puzzle and concern him as he trys to build with recruiting.

I believe in him. He's a great coach and he seems to be in disipline- keeping his young men in line. IMHO, he will have LSU as a top ten program within the next 3-4 years. Geaux Tigers!!!

In a few years, we'll be concerned with a big boy coming and taking him from us. He's one of the best coaches in the SEC and he's building a great foundation. We knew this year would be tough before it even started. We just have to take the blow this year, and look forward to the future. It's bright.

The only thing I can fault coach Johnson about is that Bo is a loose cannon. I don't mean to dog the young man for he is trying hard. But......4 of 13 from beyond the arc and 3 of 4 inside the arc. Don't know if the 3 for 4 were layups or what but the consistent jacking up 3's with no success needs to be addressed. He is not fundamentally sound enough in his shot to "shoot himself out of a slump". Coach J has got to get a handle on this.

I think if TJ is as good as we think he is, he could possibly be here for good. TAF can and always has supported our teams as they grow and progress. If TJ builds this program to even remotely close to say UK, I'm sure TAF would do whatever is necessary to keep TJ here such as improving facilities to an elite level. I also think LSU is a big enough job that if TJ builds it to that level, I think he'll want to stay and enjoy the benefits of his work unlike what he did at say Nevada.

TJ is the BEST man for this job. Too many LSU fans think we can just throw money at Mike Sahanahan in football and Calipari in basketball. The impatience is stupid. The situation isn't even comparable to Les Miles. Miles is screwing up LSU football far worse than TJ is ruining basketball.

We will win 25 games next season. I say it in other threads. If Malcolm White doesn't go NBA after next year, we can possibly make a run at the Final 4 in '11-'12.

It all starts with discipline and principle. TJ has this locked down. This is NOT his team yet and last year wasn't either. Let him get his style of players at LSU (which we will see next year) and you will see great things. This man won at Nevada - a team that has zero basketball tradition. He won at Stanford, which has only had one other period of prominence in the modern era without Trent. He will get top 10-20 classes and LSU will become what it was in the early 90's and that is a ball club that competes for SEC titles, year in and year out.

Cleaning up Brady's mess who cleaned up Dale's mess...that's the theme.

He may be OK and I may just be OLD SCHOOL but I have to look hard to find the occasional sign of players being "coached-up". I'm sorry but when there's three LSU players under the basket and the opponent gets in there and gets the ball on a rebound because NOT ONE of the LSU players has even the remotest thought of BLOCKING OUT the opposing teams players then I call - POOR COACHING! And this happens over and over and over again.
There are other signs of poor coaching as well but not drilling your players to find a man and block out with proper technique is inexcusable IMHO.

Sorry.
