never wanted one--too expensive, not versatile enough, too long start up time, etc. etc. etc.

my wife bought me one for christmas and i could not have been more wrong. i love it. very recipe/meat temp driven, which was not my style, but wonderful results. gave my gas grill away after the first weekend.

anyone else enamored?

just the fact you don't have to clean it is attractive--i hated cleaning my gas grill. plus it was sheltered and i was having to replace parts every 24 mos.

I love, worship and adore my BGE. Grilling, smoking and bbqing is now a whole different ballgame.

Same here. I probably went to the same place and looked at the BGE, Grill Dome, and Kamado. I was leaning towards the Grill Dome before, and it won me over in person. The all stainless steel hardware is the biggest selling point, but the fit and finish seemed top notch.

One time, we cooked in the egg and after taking the meat off closed it, only to come back later and not be able to open the top off. It stayed like this for months. Anyone have that problem?

Who has the Grill Dome in BR? There is a place in Denham Springs half way between DS and Port Vincent that has them. I drove there on Saturday only to find out they were closed and are only open during the week.

I have a Primo Oval XL, competitor to the extra large BGE. It is awesome and I also got rid of my gasser and horizontal smoker after a month of the Primo. I have had it 3 years and still use it 2-3x a week. They are made in Norcross, GA, I think BGE is out of Lilburn, GA.

Casual Creations on Perkins is the place to buy from. Their prices are much better than Goodwood

Tremonts (or something close to that) meat market on Jefferson north of airline on the left side of the road. They had a bile one in a bad arse table out when I passes by. They also had kamodo joe's.

I'm probably going to talk myself into a ceramic grill later in the spring. A red Grill dome is the one I'm going to get.

Thanks. I'll check them out tomorrow. I'm leaning towards black. Can't make up my mind if I want to make a cart with a concrete, tile or granite top. The place in DS told me they have a $649 "package" for the GD. The guy on the phone wasn't exactly sure what that included. He suggested I drive over to see the owner for specifics.

Was this 4h equipment possibly? I saw on their website that they did offer GDs. I stumbled upon this tremonts place while researching kamodo joe's as well.

Fwiw, https://grilldome.com/community/index.php?act=idx has a ton of really good info. what i like is that they don't censor negative posts which is nice because you learn the good and the bad.

from what i can tell, all these grills (BGE/GD/KJ/Primo) are all top of the line and you can't go wrong with any one. i just think the all SS and the looks plus the reasonable (relative) price puts GD on the top of my list.

The Grill Dome & the Kamado Joe's are thicker then the BGE. The owner @ Tramonte's has a BGE but will recommend the GD or KJ
