Wireless Router not working after power outage...

My power went out last night but came back on after an hour. My wireless router is not working now. It lights up and my laptop can recognize it, but I can't connect to the internet (I am hardwired to the modem right now).

Is this a common issue? I have a Linksys WRT54G2.

Any thoughts on fixing it? Thanks in advance.

You can run an entire website, but you can't handle those shitty routers?

ETA: I'm assuming you hit the reset button on the back?

Shut off all computers, routers, modems, unplug modems and router, wait 10 seconds. Plug in modem and let it connect then plug in router and let it connect after that turn on computers.

Did you do the usual unplug it and plug it back it in? Sometimes, my parent's router will do that. I can connect to the router but no internet. It usually just takes unplugging the router and plugging it right back in.

I've had this problem before. I have to disconnect the router from the modem, reset the modem, then connect the router back to the modem. Sometimes, I have to reset the modem a second time. It's always worked for me

I have tried unplugging to no avail. And the last thing I want to do it reset. So, if this is a known issue, and there is something that can be done without resetting, I am all Chicken ears...

Did you check for a firmware update? Does it only give problems through wireless or also when you hard wire to it?

I can't help then, we used to a Linksys router, but had so many problems with it, we finally just got the modem/wireless router in 1, best decision ever made, have had no problems.

Have you tried them in the order I described? When my linksys goes down that's the only thing that will fix it and if not done in that order then it won't work.

1. Is it possible that your WAN settings got reset? The SSID, WEP/WPA, password?

2. The mode could have changed from Auto to A/B/G and your laptop could be configured only for one particular mode

3. The Mac addresses might have been deleted but still expected and you might have to enter them again.

4. If all else fails - reset to factory conditions and try again

It seems both aren't working. I would try resetting it. It's not that hard to get your settings back to where they were. If it still doesn't work, maybe your router got fried through a power surge?

Reset your modem.

ETA: by pushing the little button on the back.

Sucks, but I've found that networking hardware goes dead from power outages (obviously because of some sort of surge) more than anything else. Can you get to the router settings page when plugged into the router? Is the router giving you an IP address or nothing?

You're likely going to have to reset it to factory settings.

I'm gonna try this now. Send someone to look for me if I don't make it back.

When plugged in to the router... Are you getting an address from the router ? Can you log in to the router ?

pressing the reset button doesn't wipe the memory or the setting off the router I don't think. Just restarts it

Every router I have seen with a reset button was a master reset to factory defaults.

That may be his only option though.
