Would LSU be better off if Les had taken the Michigan job.

yes...Saban, Del Rio, Spurrier and Gruden were all fighting over the job when they heard Les was likely gone.

Depends on who would have replaced him. He definitely doesn't have the goods to recruit and coach a team to the BCS title himself, but all in all things could potentially be much worse without him.

I always wondered: Did Michigan ever offer Miles the job? My thinking was that Michigan wanted him and Miles wanted to go but it's hard to leave when you're team is about to play for the NC. Thoughts?

I keep hearing that Saban was ready to come back to LSU. Is there any substance to this, or it just rant speculation?

I heard they were set to do a battle to the death, but in order to save lives Skip hired Miles.

It was a rumor on all the boards. I read it from those "in the know."

He was supposedly in BR on a recruiting trip and had a closed door meeting with heavy hitters and big money donors.

Sentiment at the time was that he was coming back if Miles left. This was when Alabama was 6-6 not 14-0.

Les leaving for Michigan would have been a blessing for LSU football. Now we are stuck with him until he is fired. IMHO, this will happen within the next two years.

How do you figure that?

If he left, Pelini could have been interim coach or hell, even Crowton. We still would have spanked the buckeyes.

The team was full of senior's Les leaving would not have hurt them much. The players would still want to win a NC.
