I keep coming to this damn page hoping I will see breaking news, "Crowton resigns, replaced, etc". Looks as if I'm SOL til next year!

nothing is going to change. Miles has pretty much spit in the face of the fanbase by keeping crowton. face the only way to get rid of crowton is to eliminate miles.

He has pretty much spit in everyones face including the players too if you ask me. I defended the man, but I half lost all faith in him this year. He just doesnt half the fire he once possesed. I see it in his play calling, speaking engagements, and sideline demeanor. I hope the man gets his mojo back for LSU, himself and family. This state is going to get ruthless very soon.

I'd also take that a step further and say after signing day. It's probably unethical, but they won't risk running any kids off who may be nervous about a coaching change. Now I know here come 20 posts of "who the hell would de-commit if Crowten left, we'd probably GAIN kids", but still you never know.

i'm not going to tear down your post, i just think we'd actaully gain recruits if GC were fired tomorrow.

a last chance to work the convention and get the word out/interview with as many HCs as he can all in one place. A ton of coaches change jobs after the AFCA convention.

Just like the Final Four is where Asst Coaches in NCAA BBall find new jobs.

Crowton will need to sugar coat our terrible total offense ranking. I would love to hear his reasons.

Crowton does very little road recruiting, I always felt like that was part of his problem with the skill players. He is not one to spend too much time away from his family and he is more of a film room/meeting room nerd that he doesn't project well in person.

So they get recruited by dynamic personalities like Porter and then have to work everyday with a calculus professor like Crowton and I wonder how much gets lost in translation.

I have been told that Crowton is relentlessly square (not a knock against his Mormon religion) and it is a little hard for people that work with him to deal with.

What if he fails at getting another job? Miles is not known to fire coaches who are horrible at their jobs.

aleva/miles and the TAF have to decide if it worth to them to can GC and pay him, then pay another OC.

I have heard they are obviously hoping that GC finds another job and walks on his own. But GC has a bird in hand with his LSU contract so it would take a serious offer for him to leave a top program, $800K in salary, uproot his family and move.

Who out there is willing to make a serious offer to him based on where he is and what he is producing now? It doesn't help that his NFL reputation is that of a gimmicky junk ball pitcher so a NFL job is highly unlikely.

remember this:
LINK
quote:

Gary Crowton's "Razzle Dazzle Offense" 1999-2000: Kansas City Chief head coach Gunther Cunningham's words were prophetic following an opening day loss to the Bears in 1999. "This razzle-dazzle offense, once it's figured out, won't be anything." Crowton certainly put some dazzle in a historically bland Bears offense. A longtime college coach, Crowton's offense featured five wide receivers and the shotgun on first down, tight ends split out wide, receivers lining up at running back, to three tight end sets. And Crowton blew the NFL away with his wide receiver screens, thrown to young, emerging receivers such as Marcus Robinson and Marty Booker for long scores. Soon the entire NFL was using Crowton's signature play. Though Crowton's passing game ranked 3rd in the NFL, best of any Bear team in the modern era, it had a problem. It racked up huge yards but didn't score consistently, as Chicago ranked 25th in that category with 17 points per game. Prior to the 2000 season Crowton crowed (sorry) that he was just getting his offense in gear in his second season, and began to install heavy pre-snap motion packages. Then thanks to the NFL doing just what Cunningham had predicted, along with poor QB play from Cade McNown, the razzle-dazzle offense ground to a halt. And Crowton departed before the end of the season to take over as head coach at Brigham Young University. Crowton was fired from BYU following the 2004 season and now is offensive coordinator at LSU.
