First off, I found it hilarious how the ONLY time the stadium got somewhat loud was on 3rd downs. You could hear a pin drop in that stadium on 1st and 2nd down. The "And that's another Carolina" fans chant "1st down" was VERY annoying. What are we back in high school? Finally, I was amazed at how cocky and arrogant these fans were yesterday. Walking into the stadium Panther fans behind us were stating that Brees wasn't playing only because he didn't want to go up against the Panther defense. The fans by us were singing "Oh when the Saints go marching in" mockingly and shouting "Forever the Aint's." And the "Who Dat" mocks got old VERY FAST. So nice knowing that they'll be AT HOME WATCHING US in 2 weeks.

This is all eerily similar to the LSU/Arkansas game last year in little rock...there was more shite talked by these guys after the game than any other team combined. Christ, they were what...4-8??

i just got back from charlotte. i had some stupid rednecks near me that i got into it with multiple times throughout the game. at one point one of them said something about katrina, and i cursed that dude out up and down. actually getting into it with their dumbass fans was the most exciting part of the game. they did have some really shitty fans though.

went last year....one of the quietest and least intimidating stadiums i've been to. panther fans are nothing but bunch of wine and cheese, mini van driving suckers. the "first down" chant is used in places like houston and charlotte to unify the fan base and give it some sort of tradition. but it's so lame and transparent that fans of real nfl teams just laugh at them

i think a lot were probably pissed that they basically paid for a preseason game yesterday plus the cold hard reality hit that they won't see panther football for eight months...

What I don't get is they claim to average 73,289 a game at Carolina this season.

I felt the Panther fans were rather pathetic. Cheering their pedestrian offense against 2nd stringers like they were on a Super Bowl winning drive. Then screaming because their defense was barely able to stop Brunell. I actually felt sorry for how worthless they were.

I was at the game too, and when they were booing Meachem I was also screaming "Stay classy, Carolina."

I agree with a lot of what people are saying. The That's a Carolina FIRST DOWN! was annoying as shite, and that canon after every score was retarded. But most of the fans around me weren't bad. There was of course the 1 or 2 drunk people screaming WHO DAT? WE DAT! but others knew we're a good team and without Brunell there it would have been bad.

I really liked Carolina's stadium. Now with the weather yesterday I was missing the Dome real bad, but the stadium itself was nice.

My son and I were there and for the most part we didnt have any issues with the fans around us. I did find it funny that all the fans seemed to know to grab the empty seat next to them on 3rd down and bang it back and forth to make noise, guess they are used to having the empty seats. Best part of our day had to be the Saints fans that took us in on their RV and served up some kicken gumbo! Nothin like southern hospitality!

It's a nice stadium and for the most part, the fans were pretty cool when I went. I liked that they had a statue of Sam Mills outside, he was always one of my favorite Saints.

Some friends and I went there in 2002, right after the Hornets bailed on Charlotte and relocated to New Orleans. The Saints won the game and we had a couple of a--hole fans trying to give us crap after the game. I just turned to them and said, "don't worry guys, you can always go pull for the Hornets...oops, my bad..never mind."

I was there(hell I live there but a diehard Saints fan). That stadium is decent but the atmosphere and fans are crap. If you clap too loud they threaten to throw you out like it's a damn golf course. But booing Meachem was absolutely classless. They are just pissed the season is over.

I got tired of the whole chair smashing thing, so I would do the stupid chair smashing thing, when the panthers were on offense.

Also, there was a fight near my section. Anyone know anything about that? I sat in 115.

I'm surprised to hear all these stories. Carolina is a stadium that I haven't been to yet - I keep saving it hoping that sometime we'll get a night game there (or at least a game very early in the season).

The thing I remember about Carolina fans is that they gave our Saints a standing ovation in Week 1 of the 2005 season after we ran out of the tunnel... it was our first game after Katrina. The Saints ran out holding hands and the Panthers fans cheered for us. I thought that was really classy.

So who knows what was going on yesterday - I'm going to wait and reserve my judgements until I see it in person I guess..
