Would G. Patterson be the best choice of the realistic candidates?

IF AD, I'd make Shannahan, Cowher, and Jimmy Johnson say no first. Obviously those would be long shots to say the least.

But GP is making 1.3 mill at TCU. For 2.6 mill I could not see him turning down an SEC shot.

I'd make Patterson, Whittingham, Mullen, or Harbaugh my first choice.

Patterson would be 1, 1a and 1b...

Jack Del Rio would be on the list

Why even waste the time and effort? Shannahan's about to sign a $50 million deal with the skins, Cowher can probably name his price and team to get back in, and Johnson will never leave South Miami and TV.

I'd much rather have a young, motivated college coach who knows the ins and outs of modern day recruting than one of the pure NFL guys you listed above.

Ummm, Pretty much even. I would like Whittingham or Mullen slightly more than the others. I just think those guys are stars in the making. Mullen is younger, has a lot of energy, good recruiter, great x's and o's, etc. Whittingham pretty much kept things going like Urban had them at Utah.
I'm leaning towards Mullen. He hasn't done much yet, but I think he'll be picked up by a big school and do great at some point.

In order- Patterson, Harbaugh, JDR, Schiano, Golden, Edsall, Mullen, Sumlin.

After JDR they bunch up.

Can't blame him. Freezing in BTR. Expecting low 20's all week.

Like the description and I agree w/ you. The NFL guys are pipe dream picks. I'd really like to have the JJ of 20 years ago.

I like GP though. Would trade him for Les and throw in a "used computer w/ attendees names and addresses as well as the use of an old pickup truck during camp."

I guess I want Mullen or Whittingham because I know they have an offense that will make the most out of our athletes. See Florida.

I like Muschamp, but don't think we would go the coordinator route unless something happened really late and this was the only option.

I do think he will make a very good HC one day though.

I think Patterson signed through 2016 for 2 per.

I have no idea about any buyout clauses, but his projected salary would still be far less than Miles' buyout, FWIW.

He would have to consider it, if only to sweeten his deal with TCU. But, none of this is happening this year, anyway.

when it inevitably happens, throw it at patterson.

hire a guy who actually cares about attention to detail, not the want to be attentive to such.

What's so great about JDR? I like him.. the wearing of the tie and jacket on the sidelines; decent coach. But what's the fascination with him here?
