IT IS !! And right in the center of drug/gang/car jacking CENTRAL..

shitty circumstances caused this and a lack of planning allowed it to happen
it won't happen again (after new turf is installed this year) and all in all, the Capital1 bowl is a VERY solid bowl game

That place was a fricking shithole. I will never go back there again with the 12 tickets I paid for. That stadium sucked a big one. I am writing an editorial to the Sentinel about the condition of everything.

I think the Cotton Bowl will now be the better bowl, since it is being played in Jerry's new stadium...

Yeah, LSU's o and d line struggled all year because of the field in Orlando.
Get a grip guys. State punched LSU in the nose, and the Tigers couldn't take it. I thought the field was fine. Football isn't supposed to be ICE DANCING.

We were on the 10 Yard Line about 14 rows up and the field was not fine. The sod just peeled up when they landed on it. Sure, it looked good on TV, but in person it was freaking bad. My wife talked to a player on defense yesterday and he said that they were all worried about getting hurt.

I WAS WORRIED ABOUT GETTING HURT TOO, BY MY BABY SISTER.
IF THIS WORRY IS TRUE, THEN THAT SPEAKS VOLUMES ABOUT LSU'S PROBLEMS. IF PLAYERS WERE WORRIED ABOUT GETTING HURT ARE THE "BAD" FIELD, THEN MILES NEEDS TO GET THEM OUT OF THE PRACTICE FACILITY AND START PRACTICING THEM ON A FOOTBALL FIELD.
PENN STATE PLAYS IN THE SNOW, RAIN, SLEET, BECAUSE IT IS:
FOOTBALL!
I DON'T CARE IF THE STADIUM TURF WAS OYSTER SHELLS (WHICH IS WHAT WE PRACTICED ON ON HIGH SCHOOL). YOU GOT TO PLAY HARD.

What does this have to do with him saying the field looks like crap?

NOTHING...EXACTLY. JUST FRUSTRATED AT LSU'S PERFORMANCE.

That's telling it like it is. They could be playing on concrete and the running game would still be 30yds on 31 attempts.(Washington game)Look at whoever selects and coaches the OL and find a replacement before Feb. 3rd.

I didn't read where anyone was making excuses - just commenting on embarrassing field conditions.
Also, turn you g'damn caps lock off. No one needs you yelling your way through a thread.

LSU has more speed and athleticism. Penn State has better fundamentals and consistent execution/coaching. Due to conditions, LSU lost its edge with speed. Penn State state won with less penalties and better playcalling. It's simple.

Article was ripping bowl planners and civic leaders for not shelling out the bucks needed to make it the Bowl they parade it out to be!

Reminds me of when the Steelers and Dolphins played at Wimbley. It was such a sloppy contest b/c the field wasn't in good condition.

Perfect example of how you can never get EVERYONE to agree on any single topic.
Saying that field was "fine" is flat out stupid.

Very clever thread hijack.

In granting the Bowls next season, NCAA/College Football Bowl committee should learn from 2009 Capital One bad experience. If a Bowl organizer can't guarantee certain field conditions then it should be rejected.
To be shown on national TV with such bad field condition is an insult to everyone.

This made me LOL. We must have been at different games. That was my second trip to the Cap One Bowl and I won't be visiting that dump again for quite some time.

I'm old school.
No one appreciates Vince Lombardi and the "cold November mud" and the John Facenda voice more than me.
But this is the 21st century.
We've progressed and I'm glad.
NOBODY should have to play on a shitty field like that.
