There has been alot of talk about the poor performance of the basketball team so far considering how we finished last year and how we have struggled so far this year. But remember how we struggled early on last year too against McNeese, ULL(going down to the final minute), Nicholls, and losing by 30 to Utah. But LSU has won the games they are supposed to win this season. Look at the rest of the SEC:
Alabama lost to Cornell
Arkansas has lost to: Morgan St., East Tennessee St, and South Alabama
Auburn has losses against: Missouri St., UCF, and gave up 107 to Sam Houston St at home
Florida lost to Richmond
Georgia lost to Wofford, and UAB
Mississippi St may have skull dragged UCLA but they lost to Rider at home
South Carolina lost to Wofford who beat UGA
and Vandy lost to WKU, who we beat in the NIT this year.

Ole Miss, UK, and Tenn are all winning the games they're supposed to also, and I know we lost alot of talent and have been lack-luster this year but I think once they start clicking as a team we could have a shot at the West title, since it seems so wide open. Let's see how they do against Washington St. this week.

I haven't kept up much on here, but are people really upset with how they've played thus far? Or have they just resigned themselves to the fact that this will be a down season because of utter lack of talent and depth on this team. I don't think it's anything against Trent or how hard the players are playing, I just think it's one of the least talented squads top-to-bottom we've had in a very long time.

I'm not questioning your fanhood, but I've been a diehard for a while. I even worked for the team cuz I loved them so much. There's no shame in admitting we're gonna have a rebuilding year. It doens't mean you're less of a fan. To think we even remotely have a chance at an SEC West title is ridiculous. We're gonna be about 6-10 in the SEC and play as hard as possible. Then next year we'll lose Taz and gain Malcolm White plus our very good incoming recruits and be much more competitive. But if you HONESTLY think we have any chance at the SEC West it's gonna be a terrible season for you.

Ive been going to games since the late dale brown era, ive seen some bad teams. i remeber early during the brady steamroller he went and thanked the student section for having more than 20 people after a big win against f-ing bama. i saw us lose to brady's samford team, ive seen some bad LSU basketball. Im just saying this time last year not many people were optomistic and we had a pretty good year. in no way am i saying we match last year, but im ready to see some sec play. ill support the tigers no matter how bad they are, but i dont think were going to relive the late 90s

I respect that and completely understand what you're saying. But if you just look from a pure talent standpoint, it's not there. I mean how many games did Marcus Thornton WILL this team to victory? Taz is a GREAT college basketball player, but he's a tweener between 3 and 4 so it's hard to really really be dominant. And Bo has proven he has unlimited range, but he still makes a bunch of turnovers or isn't that great off the dribble. Storm Warren has been an absolutely amazing surprise and thank goodness for him. But he's a 6'6 power forward. Outside of those 3 our next leading scorer is Dennis Harris averaging 5 ppg and he hasn't even played cuz of injury as of late. I haven't looked at Washington State yet, but I still think 6-10 is what we're looking at in the SEC.

no doubt, marcus single handly won us games last year. and taz has been dissapointing so far but sec coaches know him and respect him so he will still see double teams and with storms inside pressence and hopefuly bo steps up in sec play last year we can make something happen. i hate to say this but winning with kinsley, an injured green and farrer will be impossible thats why im hoping we can play up in 2010 like we did in 2009 last season

Yea, it's amazing how thin we are. I mean I never thought Farrer was that great, but gosh it would be pretty nice to have him. Dotson showed some improvement last game and Ludwig gets some garbage buckets that are critical for every team. So there is a little bit of hope, but we don't have enough of an outside game outside of Bo for us to win many games.

When CBass is in the game and they double Taz and stay on Bo, it forces Bass to score and he's a creator not a scorer. Dotson's shots last game were all on target, most of the time just a little to long or a little to short. If by SEC play he's giving us 8-10 consistently that would make a world of difference.

good points about Ludwig and Bass, we need everything from everyone. i hope every game this season will be like the 3ot game in starkville last year. do you make it to many games at the PMAC?

The thing with Trent is I can expect 100% effort in every game. With Brady it was very questionable if we were getting that sometimes...

Yea, I just graduated (took me 5 1/2 years ) but in that amount of time, I worked with the team my Freshman year, then sophomore year until this season have probably missed 5 or 6 games. I used to stand on the front row of every game, but now I usually sit a few rows behind the band. Win or lose I just love basketball and I love LSU so I always go. And it was basically my life for over a year so it'll always hold a special place in my heart even if most the guys I was friends with and was close to are gone.

Sorry to get all sappy there, I had a few drinks with dinner and it's still wearing off

Mega dittos.

Trent has said time and time again that this is not the same team we will see in March. Lets hope he's right, and let's hope we can put together a nice little run, sneak into the NCAA, and then have something to look forward to in 2010 when Trent's recruiting talents become apparent.

i used to but LSU doesn't let part time students in for free and then bitches about student attendance, so I bought the $100 season tickets last year and sit on the middle section across from the student section

We're one key injury away from a bad season. Without a key injury, they can compete for the WEST. Trent is a great coach. Taz is a great college player. Bo can shoot lights out. Storm leads the SEC in double doubles. I believe this team can overachieve and do some good things. Stranger things have happened.

This team is simply a work in progress.
I'd agree with a 5 or 6 win SEC record given what I've seen.

BUT, there are a couple of guys who could change that.
If Dotson could continue what he showed against Rice that's huge. If he could simply chip in 7-8 pts a game it would really help.
D.Harris and/or G.Green- if these guys could provide 10 pts and 6 Reb combined that would also be huge. But, more importantly if they could simply provide some defensive presence down low.
Even with those things happening, Taz, BS, and SW have to put up great numbers every night. But, if C.Bass and the above mentioned players can chip in it helps when 1 of the big 3 struggle. Anything from Ludwig and Kingsley is a bonus.
