thinking about getting one of direct2drive for the smackintosh

They are pretty much on the extreme niche end of strategy games, although I know many people who play them. It's more in depth than anything you've ever played before. Total War and Civ are jokes compared to those games. I think the manual for Hearts of Iron II was like 400 pages long.

Rome blows. Way too easy, and simplistic.

EU3 is great. Very complex. I got loads of entertainment from it. The multiplayer is not very accessible if that matters to you.

Both are heavily strategy. Think Total War without the battles, but with much more depth and way more factions.

i got a demo of eu 2, its pretty fricking intimidating and combined with the outdated graphics its basically unaproachable. bought rome and yeah its a little simple compared to the demo of eu2 but its easy to jump into and hella fun.

im liking it. maybe ill get eu 3 when ive run this one into the ground.

Just get Empire: Total War and play just the map. Sim all the fights.
