Was in the hotel room watching the news in the L.A. area and the sportscasters tore him a new one. Gradk goes down with and injury after moving the ball and winning the 2 previous games. J comes in and the game goes down the toilet immediately. This caster calls him a dog with fleas and a big lazy waste of space. Then he's asks if the highlights were burned..the technical guy says no, and the announcer says "well, the heck with it, i'm not showing you those highlights of him anyway." Just wow!!! Oh how the mighty have fallen.

sounds about right, once he came in it looked as the rest of the team gave up. those players dont want to play with russell anymore, he will be let go in the offseason

I posted this a couple months ago, and the Russell apoligists laughed at me. They could not conceive that players won't play for people they don't respect.

I'm sure it's a mutual feeling, it's probably best for both to move on.

Does any team pick this guy up? If so for what price? I dont see him as a starter or an effective back-up.

I doubt it. He'll probably end up in that one football league. Or the Canadian league.

He can't be that much worse than most of the backups out there, except for Matt Flynn of course.
Someone will pick him up for a project.

if he's out and out released, then yeah, a lotta teams will at least look at him as a backup. if he's available by trade only, I couldn't see the Raiders getting more than a 2nd day pick in exchange.

So I take it that his benching was "warranted".

if they trade him, is the other team on the hook for the salary and the bonuses, or just the salary? not really familiar with how that works or how his contract is set up.

As bad as it is, this does not approach the awesomeness that was Ryan Leaf.

It looks to me like Bama Boi just took his signing bonus and shut down his game after that. At least he gets to retire with his body reasonably intact.

In the NFL you take a cap hit with a trade on the signing bonuses, so if he were traded the team that got him would just have to do the salary. Payton's been looking for a good 3rd string QB to develop...

Even without having to pay the guaranteed $, his base salary is too high for any team to trade for him.

There's some funny threads on SFN about Jamarcus. They've got a weekly Jamarcus bust thread that's been going for a while.
